Filed under: Diesel , Nissan , Japan If you happen to live in Japan, your choices for buying a diesel car are quite meager. Until a new model goes on sale on September 18, there is only one diesel car available: the Mercedes E320 CDI. The model in question is a Nissan X-Trail GT20, codenamed M94, which gets a Renault-derived 2.0-liter dCi diesel engine, which was announced last year and was used for...

Previously, the Nissan X-trail was an imported model, however that did noth hamper sales. The X-trail became a very popular SUV since it was introduced into China in 2003. Nissan and Dongfeng have now teamed upto introduce the 2nd generation X-trail into China as a domestically made vehicle.

There is no good reason at all for Nissan to take their fuel-cell-powered X-Trail to the Nordschleife, but that's what they've gone and done. An 11-minute, 58-second lap time and putting a fuel cell-powered SUV on the 'Ring are both patently ridiculous. Enough. Nissan, it was great when you blasted round the 'Ring with the GT-R , but now you've just Fonzied yourselves. [ EdmundsInsideLine ]

Okay folks, this 'Ring Thing is just getting plain silly, as Nissan has now taken a X-Trail Fuel-Cell to the curcuit. So I guess Nissan can claim to have both one of the fastest cars to lap the "Ring (GT-R: 7:29) and the slowest (X-Trail Fuel-Cell: 11:58). Actually, the more I think about it, I think we should allow more (really slow) vehicles to have 'Ring lap braggin' rights. I say we (or someone)...

Filed under: Hybrids/Alternative , SUVs , Green , Nissan The undisputed champion of hydrogen fuel cell SUVs at the Nurburgring has been crowned: the Nissan X-Trail FCV. The winning time: 11:58. Of course, it's the winning time because it's the only time -- a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle has never ran the 'Ring before. After piloting the 120 bhp X-Trail around the world for two years, Nissan engineer...

Very few hydrogen centres exist in Britain – there is a station in Birmingham and one in Wales – but officials insist that oil giants such as BP and Shell have the design experience and safety expertise to install hydrogen pumps on forecourts.

To the casual observer, it looked like any other petrol-guzzling Chelsea tractor driven by a mother clogging the streets on the school run. This, though, was a 4x4 with a difference, one that even the most committed tree-hugger would be proud to drive.

Filed under: Hydrogen , Nissan , Renault We already knew about Nissan's X-trail running on hydrogen, so this might not come as a surprise, but Nissan's partner Renault has launched the fuel-cell Scénic ZEV H 2 prototype. This compact people carrier improves the X-trail's performance and almost matches the numbers of a regular car: maximum speed is 160 km/h (about 100mph) and it's got a range of 350...
