2,800 miles of America

The holiday in America was rewarding and demanding. We (this means me and my son Timothy) drove 2,856 miles, in a Pontiac Grand Prix – a great lump of a car, but amazingly less spacious inside than my own Ford Focus. On ‘drive’, this would grind up the passes at 1,500 rpm, you had to select 3 or 2 to get any response from it – a basic incompatibility with my soft-footed driving style. On the freeways,...

A new credo for commuters: more is less

Denise Liseno remembers the day the price of gas got to be too much. She had gone into a gas station thinking $60 would be enough to fill the tank of her 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. But she was wrong.

Hard Luck Truck

Dad had a 1986 pickup sitting in storage, and his brother-in-law (my uncle) offered to buy it from him. One of my uncle's kids would have liked to have had a vehicle. Dad offered it to me for free, and at first I turned him down. I had a 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix that was running fine, but the left front suspension was starting to act up on me. I was getting nervous about it getting stuck on the road...

Part I, Day 1: 080609

Today Matt and I packed up the car, involving some real-life Tetris skills to get everything in, and headed south. Our mighty chariot, a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix. Not pictured: squeezed and distorted upholstery. We reached the border about 15:30, and it took about 30 minutes to clear. We were polite, and so were the border guards, but I think the shift-change they were in the middle of might have slowed...

After witnessing a Pontiac Grand Prix swerve onto the sidewalk, sending garbage cans flying, a super pregnant Bourque gave chase . She was pretty sure the Grand Prix was being commandeered by either a drunkard or a three-year-old and she resolved to get him off the road as soon...

GM Recalling Supercharged Buick Regal & Pontiac Grand Prix Sedans

Today’s recall concerns 207,542 MY 1997-2003 Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles equipped with a 3.8L supercharged V6 engine. According to GM, engine oil can leak from the valve cover and migrate during manoeuvres such as hard braking. If by any chance the oil reaches the hot exhaust manifold, it may ignite causing an underhood fire. Unfortunately for the owners of the affected Regal

Name it the Pontiac “Grand Prix Express.” (Or, How About “El Catalina?)

Posted on 04.1.2008 16:33 by Ralph Kalal Filed under: | special editions A new Pontiac G8 “ute,” a sport truck yet to be named that's an updated version of the classic Chevy El Camino, will go on sale in the fall. GM's holding a contest to come up with the official name. Perhaps they should use the one they already used, back in 1966. You see, the G8 sport truck isn't a new idea from Pontiac. It's...
