Or, I’m hoping to, shortly. My 17-year-old, 158,000-mile Saab 900 S “winter car” never ceases to amaze me with its willingness to do everything I ask of it without complaint; even the little niceties that one could expect might stop working after all those years and miles - things like the seat heaters, the air conditioning, the [...]

Saab History Prepares to travel to the is complete, just one day shy of the opening day! This project was quite an undertaking since I acquired it in rough shape this past but it’s finally done, and I’m a very proud owner of a beautiful 1992 Saab 900 Turbo!

Cinematic road trips evoke images of carefree young ‘uns, partying and cruising about. These gorgeous young things don’t drink wine, have probably never even heard of Merlot and are often inexplicably driving a car they could never dream of affording. Sure, it’s the glamour of the silver screen, but providing us with a healthy dose of reality is the middle-aged comedy/ drama Sideways . The acclaimed...

What's with Avis' depiction of the Saab 900 as a jilted [male] lover in this version of "Your Other Car" ad campaign? Any pistonhead worth his TTAC bookmark will immediately recognize it as an example of the "classic" Saab, produced from 1978 - 1993. (Anyone recognize the locale?) That means the ad's "star" is a pre-GM model (in development terms). Even so, Avis rents GM products, and the old Saab's...

Filed under: Tech , Driving In an episode of "Seinfeld," Kramer and a car salesman vowed to drive a Saab 900 "into the slash" just to see what would happen. Kramer said he had done it once but blacked out and woke up in a ditch with a full tank of gas. There's now a website that would have benefited from Kramer's experiment. Tank On Empty is collecting stories and experiences of how far each model...

This car doesn't perform like a luxury vehicle, but it sure seems to handle like one. But because of its time of existence, rust is beginning to take its toll. Another problem is the motor from the tonnoue cover does not work properly and must be raised by hands so i have to change it. Except from this simple problems the car have been very useful for us. The engine is back in the 900, at long last. I put some cardboard in to protect the radiator, and lowered it in nice and easy. The whole thing went without a hitch, and the engine settled nicely onto its three mounts. The Saab 900 clutch is a little tricky to install. It goes in at [...]

Another fun filled week. Firstly on Thursday I gave Fuzz a lift back to PC Towers. On the trip I told him how great my SAAB 900 is. ‘It never breaks down,’ I said. ‘It's never been any trouble. The best £275 I ever spent,’ etc etc. Now normally I’d never tempt fate like this in any of my other [...]

The Saab 900 fans are an enthusiastic lot. Sporting scores owner’s clubs, and fan sites, the iconic Swede has long been the object of worldwide praise, and apparently great imagination. A perfectly bizarre example of this dedication to the 900 is the photographic diary of one Frenchman's conversion of a 1980 5-door Saab to a functioning sauna, and barbaque. The transformation is remarkably well finished;...
