If you thought the end of the Saturn brand would only affect car buyers in America, think again! The Opel Antara on the roads today has shared a body and interior with the Saturn Vue. Now that the Vue is going away, the Antara needs a new body double. Judging from our spy [...]

Yesterday morning, behind Research Building B, the Penn State Advanced Vehicle Team unveiled their new Saturn Vue Hybrid that they will be modifying in an attempt to boost fuel economy. The team plans to rip out the existing parallel hybrid system (system uses one of two engines, depending upon driving conditions, think Toyota Prius) and [...]

Until last week I had been one of General Motors' most reliable customers for more than 15 years. But my customer relationship with GM ended the very day that GM announced it was closing its Saturn operation -- something I learned when I came home from trading in my 2003 Saturn Vue on a new, spiffy 2010 SUV with an Asian nameplate (I won't name it because I don't want to look like a shill).

Audi is looking to change that with the introduction of a new system on the A3 that is paired with the 7-speed S-tronic dual clutch transmission. The setup is available on two different...

The UAW and CAW have released a list of vehicles which they endorse, because they are assembled by unionized plants in North America. There are some "Big 3" vehicles which are notably missing because they are assembled in Mexico, such as the Chevrolet HHR. Others have an * because some variants are built in Mexico while others are built in US or Canadian union plants, such as the GM pickups....

Although the 2010 GMC Terrain is not the "Professional Grade" Division's first unit-body-type crossover model (that would be the Acadia ), it's fair to say there's skepticism surrounding its launch. It comes with a four-cylinder engine after all. Chiseled fender flares give it a more truck-like, less grocery-getter appearance than the Chevrolet Equinox or Saturn Vue , though. Apart from...

In his recent web chat, GM's Bob Lutz stated that the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox "trounces" the Ford Escape Hybrid. I'll ride to the defense of the Escape Hybrid against the onslaught of Mr. Lutz. Let's compare EPA mpg and carbon footprint calculations: Equinox FWD 2.4L 22/32 mpg (city/hwy) 7.1 tons/year CO2 Equinox AWD 2.4L 20/29 mpg 8.0 t/yr CO2 Escape Hybrid FWD 34/31mpg 5.7 t/yr CO2 Escape...

I stirred up a bit of an emotional hornets’ nest last week when I posted on GM’s steps in the right direction with their eBay sales portal and plans for a $4,000 car (my personal favorite comment was on the syndicated version of the post on Seeking Alpha). Brace yourselves for more volatile dialogue, because I think GM has shown another sign of adapting to a changing world … and...

Even after selling off its Saturn brand, GM promises to launch a new plug-in by 2011. Plans were announced last year to launch a Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid SUV, which could travel up to 10 miles using only the lithium-ion battery pack.
