Based off the M2A prototype, the McLaren M2B was the first car entered under the McLaren constructor. Founded by Bruce McLaren after obtaining no wins for over four years whilst driving for Cooper, Bruce McLaren funded and set out to build single-seat Formula One team. Bruce McLaren hired Robin Herd from the aerospace industry to design the M2B.

Sorry for silence this week. Been in Spain on Seat Ibiza SportCoupe launch (funny how now all car manufacturers see that there's a pronounced difference between three- and five-door customers and so have to market the two versions quite separatenly, as well as distinguishing them through design. Three-door customers are going for sporty looks so don't want to be associated with those who buy five-door...
