In this gift ideas interview, Feng Shui consultant Eileen Rawson explains how she once gave an unusual crystal as a special wedding present to a couple and why Quiz and Sudoku books do not make such good gifts! What is the best gift you have ever received? A beautiful, sexy, red Toyota Celica! I was truly not expecting it. She is so beautiful and I named her Kitten. I have always really loved the...

Some heroic late-night wrenching — and a quick trip an hour north to Detroit — after yesterday's disastrous loss of a front wheel — has helped the #99 Celica get back on the track here at the Toledo-Detroit LeMons race. Jalopnik intern Andy Didorosi was at the helm when the Celica (and its Swedish roof) hit the track again around 6:30 AM. We're sure we'll have more details later this morning, as this...

We've been keeping most of the details under wraps up until this point, but we've been feverishly prepping an entry for this weekend's 2008 Detroit(ish) 24 Hours of Lemons at the Toledo Speedway . We won't go into how long we've had to transform this 1988 Toyota Celica GT-S from a police-auction special into a rip-roaring Lemons machine, but suffice to say, it's not been nearly long enough. The frantic...

Filed under: Maintenance , Carsumer Advocacy , Humor Remember last week when we told you about a tuner shop in Florida that got stuck holding a $16,000 bill after customizing some broke guy's Toyota Celica? That shop is resolving its dispute through the courts and will likely end up selling the car to make its money back, but a mechanic in the U.K. named Darren Tandy recently found himself in a similar...

The first thing I noticed about this car, driving near Fox Hills Mall in Culver City, was that it was a rare, older model, turquoise-colored Toyota Celica. Unfortunately, I then noticed that the young female driver was chatting away on her cell phone, holding the phone up to her ear. The older woman in the passenger [...]

This story has been burning up the car modder forums the last few days. A 20 year old guy gave his 2004 Toyota Celica to a small custom car shop for a paint job. Then he brought over a few parts and asked them to "add it to the bill". The kid must have been a good talker, because he talked the shop into doing $16,000 worth of work on his car over the course of months. Then, Fraud-boy showed up at the...

According to a shop owner who posts at TampaRacing.com , a customer asked for $16,000 in custom work on a base model automatic Toyota Celica of unknown vintage, and even fronted the money for the material costs, without actually deciding how he was going to pay for it. Realizing this, after four months of work, the Celica's none-too-bright owner apparently sent his mom to pick it up for him. When...

newVideoPlayer(”/87_Celica_476.flv”, 506, 423,”"); This ad might not be quite as painfully 80s as the Cocaine Factory ‘85 Duster Ad, but it’s getting there. 1987 was the year the Celica was “improved” by going to front-wheel-drive and shedding the old funky angular look in favor of a more focus-group-friendly (i.e., bland) appearance. The Phil Collins-esque [...]
