The plug-in hybrid Opel Ampera is likely to be offered with a price tag of 24,500 pounds (about 28,000 euros), according to Opel’s managing director Hans Demant. The Opel Ampera was officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and is slated to go on sale in 2012.With this price, the Opel Ampera would be less expensive than the top of the line Vauxhall Zafira with automatic transmission.

Seems that GM has big plans of new platforms for a new generation of Astra Voltec, Chevrolet Volt or Vauxhall/Opel Ampera , but no sooner than 2014 we will see any version of Vauxhall/Opel Astra built up with the Volt technology.
