The 1.6 litre common rail diesel engine in the Golf Plus BlueMotion a ' down from 1.9 litres in the old Golf Plus BlueMotion a ' manages 65.7 mpg and emissions of 114g/km, an improvement of 11% in economy and 10% in emissions.

After the Golf Plus hatch was initially introduced last December in Bologna and which is currently offered for order, the carmaker followed it up with a version of the VW Golf Plus to its LPG range. The Golf can run on both LPG and regular gasoline contained in two different fuel tanks helping the car reach a range of more than 1,100 kilometers.

Wolfsburg, 12 June 2009 – The Golf Plus now also runs on LPG. Thanks to the use of this alternative fuel, a reduction of more than 10% in CO2 emissions and fuel savings of ?6.10 per 100 kilometres* in LPG mode could also be achieved, due in part to the reduced German fuel tax in place until 2018.
