Roooooooooby Toooooooooosday.

Today I am working on these: One day they will grow up to be convertible mittens designed by Emma . I am test crocheting them. That's an awesome light-up crochet hook from Weezie , but you can't really tell from that picture. They're intended for my father-in-law for Xmas. I hope they fit him. I hope he likes them. They're the Xmas gift I'm most unsure about so far. He's all.... classy and English...

staggering!

the football was amazing on Sunday, I hardly had time to pick up my crochet hook when Spurs were on MotD2- they beat Wigan 9-1! A team is doing well when they win 3-0 or 4-0, but to score 9 goals in a match is astounding, and very rare at the top level. The main man was Jermain Defoe who scored 5, joining a very exclusive club consisting of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole who also scored 5 in a match

Using Offcuts

I have a small pile of offcuts from the crochet hook and knitting rolls. They have been waiting patiently on the shelf waiting for me to do something with them. I have managed to use two of them so far. The first I have made into a pen/pencil holder. It folds over and is closed using velcro, holding up to 12 pens. The next one was inspired by Rudee. All knitters tend to acquire lots of cable and double...

Happy Hooker

Last weekend I attended a 2 hour beginner's crochet class with Jan Eaton . She is actually retired and living close to me! So we were very lucky to have her run this class, as she normally does not do this anymore. Her friend works at the museum , where the workshop was, so I think that is what swung it! Anyway, Jan is a really really nice lady, full of life, very funny and incredible patient and friendly....

Apple tree sculpted Hook... SOLD*

*Shortest auction ever, eh? Well I should have first offered the hook to the second highest bidder in the first auction. I've made that right, and the hook is sold. BUT I promise more will be coming!! I'm hoping to do some more Chophooks too. They make really great Christmas gifts and help out a very worthy cause. Ever see this hook before? It was auctioned several months back but circumstances didn't...

I thought I had been busy ironing and packing whilst daydreaming of lovely crafty projects and exciting things to make. Stick to the knitting

Crocheting - it can't be that hard can it? I can knit, so I think I'd like to learn to crochet. So I booked a place on a crochet workshop for beginners and with lots of enthusiasm turned up full of anticipation at a heavenly wool shop (Fibre & Clay) in Knutsford. I would spend the day chatting with like-minded ladies, drinking coffee and eating a nice lunch, whilst learning a new skill. Hmmm! It...

Recycled plastic bottles

I've talked alot about the trouble the environment is having with plastic. The hyperbolic coral crochet workshop taught me about the plight of our seas that are slowly suffocating .I'm still amazed at how thoughtless some people are. .How can we all just go on day after day buying more and more products wrapped in plastic. I'm not perfect but I do have a bag at the door for plastic stuff and newspapers.When...

Knitted? I Think You'll Find That's Crochet

I love Harry Hill’s TV burp, it’s the only thing on TV that I get mad about missing but something has been bothering me for quite a while. It’s this: From the very first clip when the Knitted Character first appeared in Eastenders I said “that’s not knitted, it’s crocheted” but I let it slide because I didn’t think much of it. But now the character has...

plarn wreath all recycled goods!

plarn is basically yarn made from plastic carriers bags there are many websites with tutorials on make plarn i prefer the method where you fold and cut the top diagonally across quick and even! other skills required included minimum of sewing, crochet and plastic fusing..plastic fusing is melting of plastic bags together..again lots of websites show methods of this you don't need to get too fussy with...

Right down the drain.....

My resolution to blog more once back in the US that is! I can not believe that 3 months has passed by so quickly! My first few weeks were filled with car shopping (I am the proud owner of a 2010 Chevy Equinox) and house shopping which lasted more than a few weeks! I finally found my dream house up in Gurnee Illinois, and moved in my furniture and belongings finally 2 weeks ago. It was a crazy and hectic...

The last of the crochet hook rolls

After a couple of restocking visits to the fabric shop, I think I have now finished making all the crochet hook rolls I am going to make. Here are the next two pairs. The larger of the two black ones was done differently to the others. I did 10 compartments each side, facing each other. These will be folded over together before rolling up. Hopefully, the lady that requested these will be happy with...

Crocheting mainly w/sari silk

I've been hiding indoors for the past couple of days due to health/exhaustion issues, me & my crochet hook & some really lovely yarn! So I whipped up this headband using handspun wool & recycled silk sari yarn; it's wide & cosy & great for keeping ears warm. I've decided I'll pop it up on my Etsy shop but if it doesn't sell in a few weeks I'm keeping it for myself! I also randomly...
