I'm not sure if this isn't more rightly called "paper sculpture" than origami. True it uses only one sheet of paper and there are no cuts, but, well...watch the video and you'll see what I mean. Besides getting to see the mushrooms themselves, which are almost photo-realistic, it's worth it to see how a master with 20 years of experience moves his hands. NTV’s “Surprise Surprise” had a feature last week about Shigeru Okada, creator of some pretty awesome origami stop motion animations: The original, as it appeared on YouTube: And a far cooler origami sumo video: A whole lot of other animation shorts and “making of” videos can be found on his YouTube channel. — Akihabara News – Gadgetry from Japan (Subscribe)...
Dave sez, "From the site of a group of radical origami artists called 'Le Crimp', here's a fascinating video on making a near-photo-realistic mushroom from a piece of wrapping paper. Le Crimp was featured in the new origami documentary 'Between the Folds' (which boing boing alerted me to) showing on PBS stations in December (check local listings)." (TrendHunter.com) I have never been very crafty, but have always been fascinated by what some people can create with nothing but paper. To those who are skilled in the area, the papercraft possibilities and origami options…
The school Christmas fayre is this week, so I've decided to make some decorations to sell. I have very happy childhood memories of making our own decorations. Each year, I make a few to add to our collection. These decorations took a couple of evenings to make. They're made using a craft foil that is gold on one side and green/pink on the other. I bought my foil about 9 years ago, having spotted it...
Whilst getting rid of my pop up that my new printer keeps ‘popping up’ I decided to click on the link and came up with some amazing origami & papercraft projects. This little Town calendar caught my eye as the easiest project to do and soooo cute. I’m hoping to make a more handmade version of this using stamps and die cuts etc but this is just the start for inspiration purposes...
I really love this fabulous vintage 80s party frock: It's up for grabs from a seller called Tractordog on etsy for $139 not including P&P. It would make a fantastic Xmas party dress teamed with killer heels...very Femme Fatale! The top part of this is very similar to two other vintage 80s cocktail dresses that I've spied in the past, I really like the origami slant. The red & black colour combo...
I'm grouchy. I know that Thanksgiving is a time to enjoy our families and all that jazz, but between Chuck's divorced and remarried parents and my divorced and remarried parents, I always end up with that nagging feeling that we've left someone outside. Oops, I mean out . I'd never leave a cherished relative out on the stoop. Never, ever. And I know it's only November 23 but I'm already tired of people...

Compared to what she normally wears - including on stage this very night - Rihanna 's red carpet fashion at the American Music Awards was downright tame. Still, the singer's origami-like black, white and gold dress drew raves from fashion critics
It was the most awaited show of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, and boy it did make us wait the most? At 11:00 p.m; when the show finally began, it had been through security lapses, air conditioning failure, a flood of gate crashers and an irate Rohit Bal who frantically tried to get his special guests into the show, while desperately trying to filter the uninvited ones. Inside the MSA, the din...

Origami CT For this design I was inspired by origami. I have tried to translate this Japanese art of folding into a piece of furniture with a fragile and elegant appearance that is sturdy enough for daily use’ – Matthias Demacker. The Origami design by Matthias Demacker appears to be almost impossible. The German designer was not only inspired by origami, he actually worked with paper. Using scale models...
