Your weapons: four colors of paint, a few stencils, and a canvas. Your mission: replicate every design Copy Cat throws at you. Your sanity: at risk, as you struggle to layer the stencils, apply the paint, and mix the colors in exactly the right order. It may start off simple, but it gets complicated fast.

The Lock Up opened last Friday and is rammed full of quality pieces from some the best artists around at the moment. I've got to say that for me Goldie probably stole the show. His Showgirl pieces (pictured below) are absolutely stunning in the flesh. That said the bar has been raised all over the show with many of the artists turning in fine pieces of work for a really well put together collection....

Each set includes some bricks from Lego and some sheets of colored paper and stencils from Muji. A special hole punch that matches the size of the pins on the Lego bricks can be used to create dimensional characters with the paper cutouts....

Then we placed the stencils. Then we started painting. Then I realized that I need larger stencils for IS LOVE, LOVE IS. Doesn't that figure?

So you have a killer idea for an iPhone app, but when you describe it to people they just don’t get it. Maybe you have a client that is a visual thinker and needs you to draw it out for him. That’s when wireframes, mockups and stencils can be your saving grace.

I used to be intimidated by paint. I thought that it was only used by those who could create portraits or landscapes. Then I took two online classes....one with The Altered Diva and the other with Paulette Insall and my thinking changed. I could use paint just to play and play I did. It has become one of those mediums that I reach for when I'm stuck creatively. I dig out my stencils, my sequin waste...

NEW YORK, NY.- From James Rosenquist, one of our most iconic pop artists—along with Andy Warhol, Jim Dine, Claes Oldenburg, and Roy Lichtenstein—comes this candid and fascinating memoir. Unlike these artists, Rosenquist often works in three-dimensional forms, with highly dramatic shifts in scale and a far more complex palette, including grisaille and Day-Glo colors. A skilled traditional...

Filed under: Arts and Culture , Photos , Oceania , France You don't expect rampant urban culture in the sultry South Pacific, but it's there. That's because like it or not, Papeete is a relatively big city that's home to about half the population of French Polynesia, or about 130,000 people. Also, the city will never run out of reinforced concrete walls and frustrated youth. Tourists are funny about...
