Baking muffins every alternate weekend is something of a ritual at our household now. So much that my younger one who turns two next month calls all cakes as muffins ( or maapin in his lingo). I tried baking apple muffins a long time back this year and met with disastrous results. The fault was entirely mine. I had gone against the one rule I follow in the kitchen- When cooking follow instinct, when...

My latest kitchen experiment. I had posted a picture of this creation on twitter and everyone wanted to know where, when, who....NOW! So, I rushed to type up the recipe and get it out to you. Yes, these were seriously good muffins. I mean really good. A great muffin base that melded perfectly with the mascarpone stuffing. I hate boring muffins, I know I've said this before, but what is the point

All over the web, you can find jarred cupcakes to give as gifts (or eat on your own). At prices between $4 and $9 each plus shipping, making your own at home is an affordable way to make delicious gifts for friends and family. This year I am making two varieties to give as gifts and will give 2 jars (2 flavors) as gifts. I'm doing my favorite Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and a Yellow...

So here is one of the Thanksgiving desserts I wanted to try out before hand to see if it was worthy of making it to the big meal. I love pumpkin pie, plain and simple, but I wanted to try a couple of other desserts that played around with the pumpkin and the pie, and presented it with a little twist. This pie is made with a basic pie crust, and then filled with a pumpkin flavored pastry cream. Pastry...

I found this recipe over at All Things Heart and Home and had to make them for the kids! They loved them! I loved the graham cracker crust with the chocolate cake, yum! I didn't want to make to many cupcakes, so I made 24 cupcakes and a small cake to take over to my neighbors. S'more Cupcakes 2 cups sugar 1 3/4 cups flour 3/4 cup cocoa 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoons soda 2 eggs 1/2 cup...

Tonight we took the opportunity to try yet another recipe from America's Test Kitchen. It had been on the list for quite some time and tonight since we were having roast beef....it was the right time for us. Pretty much any time we have a roast beef of any cut.....we have Yorkshire Pudding. I have had some batches turn out well and others not so much.....no consistency in quality....so I was not opposed...

These yummy muffins were a recipe I adapted from December's Homemakers magazine issue Sweet and Sour Bran Muffins. I made a few changes because of the ingredients I had at home. You could use any berries you have. They're really good right out of the oven and quick to make up. Perfect for breakfast. 1 cup all purpose flour 3/4 cup Red Fife** flour (or whole wheat) 3/4 wheat germ 1/2 packed brown sugar...

So here it is. I have just sat in the hairdressers for three hours having my bleach blonde hair coloured back to natural (yuk!) because it was falling out. When it dawned on me just how much weight I had put on in the last year. When I say dawned on me, what I really mean is that sitting there staring at yourself for that length of time, surrounded by over groomed skinny hairdressers and being handed...

“Birthdays are nature's way of telling us to eat more cake.” Author Unknown I changed my blog header 2 days ago with pictures of my birthday cake. How ambitious of me when I thought I'd post the recipe alongside. 2 days have zipped by & I am still struggling with my thoughts. Time, or the lack of it , is to blame, but I got a couple of emails this morning conveying how 'torturous'...

My father's mother, Nannie was a big mincemeat pie maker. I never developed a taste for it, as the idea of sweet meat was repulsive to me as a child and teenager. But, the history of the mincemeat pie is fascinating as it harkens back to a time before preservatives and refrigeration. Alas, I am afraid the lure of mincemeat may die with my generation, as I have never made it and neither have I ever...

My cousin Camille has great taste in food and when she sends me a recipe to try, I usually try it the very day I get it. This is one of those. She sent me this recipe and told me I had to try it. And I'm telling you, if you aren't sick of pumpkin yet , you must make these. They are a phenomenally moist pumpkin muffin (sweet enough to really be classified as a cupcake, in my book) with a buttery, cinnamon...

We have a whole post about sweets today. SUGAR kids , my favorite thing in the whole wide world! LOL!!! In the beginning of summer I won a give away on Lisa's blog, The Cutting Edge Of Ordinary.
