This is a repost of a yummy soup recipe that appeared in the early days of Noodles and Rice. This is a great easy-to-fix soup/stew, perfect for fall temperatures. It’s simple enough that you can throw it together on a busy night after work. Authentic Thai dishes usually call for kaffir lime leaves, lemon grass, and [...]

I had a taste for Chicken Casserole. Nothing fancy. Just the basic - Chicken, egg noodles, cream of mushroom (or other on hand) soup, milk, peas and bake. Doesn't get much easier then that. My schedule consisted of phone that tried to get permanently attached to the side of my head. My ear, literally, hurts. Not only that, but I would be perfectly fine not talking to anyone all night.

Before I can move into the realm of Japanese noodles, I have to lay the foundation for them by offering up (and hence, explaining) the soup in which they can be served. The Japanese use dashi as the base for different types of soup much like folks in the Western world use chicken, beef, or vegetable stock. As Wikipedia notes: "Dashi forms the base for miso soups, clear broth soups, Japanese noodle...

This time I began with pumpkin soup, another first of the season. My usual recipe starts with fried onions, then adds these to the pumpkin cooked in chicken stock with a dash of sugar, lemon juice and the spices. This time I used about a quarter teaspoon each of nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. [...]

I spend much too much time trying to figure out why some recipes we try out burn a hole in my laptop until I can get them up on the site–sometimes, even a day seems to long to keep something from you, like last week’s soup–and why others can linger for months. Sometimes, I’m just [...]

Faith’s Cabbage Soup -- The Opus I don’t have a set recipe for my cabbage soup. It is generally sweet and sour. One common theme in my soup is what looks good in the store or what is beginning to look a bit...
