Frozen treats aren't really turning into wine in Plainfield, but it might look that way. The long-vacant Ritter's Frozen Custard building in the Cambridge development near I-70 and Ind. 267 has been acquired by Dr. Charles Thomas, who plans to remodel the blue-and-white structure to look like a wine barrel next to his Chateau Thomas Winery.

Garnet and a little opaque with some intensity. Bouquet is strong and parotid stimulating! Strong berry and cedar nose with a palate that is crisp, tasty, a little hot, with berries that are dark, cedar, and sweet tannins. Blueberry notes emerge later and this is a value wine from Chile. I padi $8 on sale and is a nice buy! Raise a glass. --A Review from The Wine Cask Blog. Creative Commons: Attribution...

Firm in texture, with grippy tannins around a glowing core of plum and blueberry fruit, shaded with earthy, cedary notes as the finish persists. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2010 through 2015. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 1,693 cases made.

A new poll in the New York Times shows that Barack Obama has inexplicably failed to erase the legacies of slavery in the United States, and further, that he has consistently failed to turn concentrated sulpheric acid into a decent cabernet. We tasted Killer Juice Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 and liked the wine. We were also impressed by Killer Juice’s use of the packaging to enhance the shelf appeal of the wine. In a typical supermarket or wine shop, the customer is presented with a staggering array of wines. Boxed wines in particular may be a [...]

This blog is not winery-related, unless you can count the fact that my friend, Laura Shumaker, loves Anomaly Cabernet! So in that sense, it is winery-related! I met Laura two years ago in the Wednesday Women's Writing Group. We meet each Wednesday in Rockridge and talk about writing, share what we have written, and sometimes we even write! When I first met Laura, we hit it off as if we had known each...

Okay, okay, so I'll admit it. Expecting the worst, I pre-medicated with some Cabernet Sauvignon. Good thing too, judging by the 3-1 result. So, let's hit some quick thoughts on those reserves . . .

In 1997, Plumpjack, a 10,000 case Napa winery producing ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon bottled half of its 1997 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon with screw caps. You might ask why they would so such a thing. According to PlumpJack, six to seven percent of all wines are corked and this is not a statistic that PlumpJack [or the wine industry in general] is willing to accept.
