Yesterday, Kotaku reported on some leaked release dates for all upcoming versions of Rock Band 2 . We did a little legwork this morning (i.e. walked into a GameStop and asked for a release list) and were able to find even more details on the alleged release dates. GameStop is currently listing that Rock Band 2 (disc only) for the Xbox 360 is street dated for September 14. The special edition bundle...

Grapevine, Tex.-based retailer GameStop already has over 5,000 stores worldwide, but there's still "plenty of room ... for new store openings," one analyst says. Colin Sebastian with Lazard Capital Markets said in a Monday investor note, "We believe GameStop continues to generate positive and steady [return on investment] on new stores despite increasing penetration in North America and in some international...

Many in the development field have slammed the practice by retailers such as GameStop and EB for allowing individuals to trade in games for store credit and cash. It allows others to by the used product–and when others do that, the developers don’t see a dime from the sale. David Braben, head of Frontier (the studio [...]

WARHAMMER ONLINE: What does GameStop know about WARHAMMER ONLINE that we don’t? According to their current sales ad for WAR - they know the Open Beta, pre-order access, ship and launch dates! How about that for starters?! Of course, we must all swallow this information with huge helpings of salt, but apparently WARHAMMER ONLINE will begin [...]

“Again?!” That was our reaction to Gearbox Software’s latest news on the release of Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, now delayed until late September (2008, not 2009 mind you). On a happier note, GameStop has unveiled that the third iteration in Ubisoft’s WWII shooter series will be yet another title to be available in two [...]

[As originally posted on Tomopop ] I'm beginning to think Gamecock should just quit the gaming business and make toys. Toycock? Figurecock? Yeah, doesn't quite have the same ring to it I guess. At least when you pre-order Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars at Gamestop you can pretend that Gamecock has heeded their true calling when the screechy voiced clerk deposits a sweat-damp statuette of "Pax" into your...

Filed under: News , Fan stuff Character design and concept art are two areas in which Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars excels, and the free gifts for those who preorder the game use both extensively. Those who reserve a copy at Gamestop will be able to claim the "life-size" statuette above, as well as a pack of eleven Mushroom Men trading cards (a twelfth comes with the game itself) featuring the title's...

Filed under: News Over the weekend, Amazon and Gamestop dropped the price of Majesco's Blast Works to $20, which we thought was going to be the best Wii game deal we'd hear for a while. Then Best Buy stepped in and showed just how little money you can charge for Blast Works. They're selling it online and in-store for $10, but it's currently sold-out online. It should be in stores for a bit longer,...

It always happens, places like Gamestop and Amazon.com put up projected release dates for games fairly early so that they can start selling pre-orders fairly early to the wanton masses. At first glance, Warhammer Online looks to have received a release date like this; however, the site this time seems to be a little bit more reliable: namely the publisher's website. That's right EA's website for a...

Filed under: Breakfast topics , Wrath of the Lich King If I had a nickle for every e-mail the WoW Insider team received that told us when Wrath of the Lich King was going to be released because Amazon or GameStop was selling pre-orders, I'd probably be lounging on a beach enjoying drinks decorated with tiny paper umbrellas instead of enjoying the glamerous lifestyle of a rock star blogger. Trust us,...
