Denver Having followed Barack Obama around on the campaign trail quite a bit, I found tonight's big speech to be of the middle-rank, at least by his own standards. At his best, Obama is a riveting orator--his Iowa caucus victory speech was gob-smacking in the brilliance of both its rhetoric and delivery. When Obama does not have his fast-ball, his speeches tend to be unkindly exposed, like when you...
Paul Tewes, the manager of Barack Obama's Iowa Caucus campaign, spoke earlier this morning to the Iowa delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver. He's now working with the DNC, but revealed he has maintained an apartment in Des...
As a 2008 presidential candidate, Biden got less than 1% of the delegates in the opening January Iowa caucus, and dropped out of the race quickly. But as a candidate to be Obama's running mate, the veteran Delaware senator outcampaigned rivals by successfully arguing that his benefits outweighed some considerable baggage.
Just got back from a rousing Democratic National Rules Committee meeting here in Denver. As a die-hard fan of precision parliamentary proceedure, I found it to be a real hoot. For Iowa caucus-lovers, the news was pretty good. The rules committee followed Barack Obama’s advice and voted to form a special commission [...]
Obama choice for VP Joe Biden and his Iowa caucus appeal: How'd the YouTube move 2008 Iowa caucus voters? Biden got 2 percent of the vote and dropped out of the Democratic presidential primaries that night. He came in fourth...
Jen Rubin passes on a great little tibit from Jake Tapper on the document dump from the Atlantic. You want to read this one which contains Mark Penn's analysis just prior to the Iowa Caucus. On page 8, in the scenario that Hillary Clinton comes in second behind Barack Obama, Penn recommends: If it is a two-way race with Obama, on Friday we do a media interviews (sic) and basically say that he is unvetted,...
I can't remember when I first heard the rumor about John Edwards and his fall from grace. I do remember, that it was before the Iowa caucus. I remember thinking to myself, that these sorts of things usually tend to be true, and thinking to myself, why is he even running? So he never got the nomination, and we lucked out, but don't you wonder what the election might look like today if Edwards had not...
This morning two editorials one in the LA Times and the other in The Moderate Voice, a political blog, provide a fresh perspective on the Edwards scandal. The story broke in the National Enquirer, months ago, long before the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary, yet mainstream press and bloggers failed to carry the story and investigate further. So far the stories have only been about the failure...
Although a cliche, I do generally believe in the saying that where there's smoke there's fire. This story appeared to be total bullshit aimed at destroying Edwards before the critical Iowa caucus back in October 2007 when it was first published. Drudge had it posted back then and has since been issuing regular updates--so it's crept into the mainstream media. If true, it would be a shocking revelation,...

We've recently discovered several other elections map mashups on the web that are just as interesting and we couldn't...
In the end though, it proves to be about as conclusive as the Iowa caucus was for the Democratic Primary. The huge loser from this poll is Bob McDonnell, who should have a substantial lead at this point because of his statewide lead in name ID as sitting Attorney General. The fact that he's leading by only 5-6 points against 2 Democrats who really have only marginal statewide name ID at this point...
"I'm in it for the long run. It's not a very long run. It will be over by February 5." -- Sen. Clinton, before Iowa caucus. Photo: AP Covering a campaign is more like covering a sports team than either sort of reporter cares to admit. The same performance that's labeled "gutsy" after a win becomes "inadequate" after a loss. While Hillary Rodham Clinton managed more primary votes than any winning candidate...
ABC NEWS' Z. BYRON WOLF WRITES FROM THE SENATE Sen. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, has not been in the Presidential race since just after the Iowa Caucus, where he finished 5th with 4 percent of the vote. While he hasn't been...
