Kleinheider reports that the Tennessee House, by a 47-29 margin, voted against ( HR1008 ) asking the Federal Government to institute a "Department of Peace". I have an idea, how about instead we dramatically increase our education spending, so we have fewer idiots out there to vote guys like George W. Bush into office? Frankly, I think we have plenty of cabinet level departments...

The first bill that I can remember in 4 years has been killed on the house floor. HJR1008 A resolution that urges congress to set up the US Department of Peace and make it a cabinet position. I asked if the sponsor had any idea what it would cost to do that. "No" I asked if she thought the Department of defence was doing a good job? "Not sure but we could do better" Glen Casada...

While the idea sounds great, I can't find any difference between this ACC and the National Institute of Health : The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and...

Just in from the King County Convention, where once again we, the King County Democrats, demanded that a Department of Peace be established at the cabinet level. If you were at the convention, and don't remember passing such a stupid thing--that's because you should NEVER pass groups of resolutions at quarter till adjournment that have not been provided in print to the assembled body....

... I’m a little curious about what this person is supposed to do. Like Dennis Kucinich’s idea for a “Department of Peace”, this seems like one of those ideas that sounds good in a stump speech but in practice would amount to little more than a cabinet member whose job it is to beg other cabinet members to care about poverty. Considering how much flack Obama has taken for not delving...
