As you probably know, a group that I have dubbed The Infamous 53 , recently sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi opposing freedom for all Americans to travel to Cuba. Transcripts of the letter were available on the Internet. What was not ready available was the actual names of the 53. An alert reader of Cuba Journal sent to me a PDF file link with the text and the signatures and the names of the 53....

The "Blue Dog" Democrats, 44 'fiscally conservative' congresspersons, did not acquit themselves well in this year, says the Heritage Foundation, via Stephen Moore : On three votes that would massively expand the size of government -- the stimulus plan, cap and trade, and health care reform -- Blue Dogs mostly were AWOL. "Of the 52 House Blue Dogs, only four voted against all three,"...

If Democrats think that the House has muscled its way past the Tea Party activists by passing the ObamaCare bill, the Tucson Tea Party sent a message yesterday. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) calls herself a "Blue Dog Democrat," but that dog didn't hunt two months ago in a town-hall ...

After more than 12 hours of debate on a Saturday, and nearly 100 years of delay, dallying, and outright obstruction, the House passed a significant health care reform measure. With a tally of 220 in favor, 215 against, and none voting present or not voting, H.R. 3962 passed the House of Representatives. 39 Democrats crossed over and voted with the Republicans, while 1 Republican, Joseph Cao of Louisiana,...

Being from MA can be sort of a let down during big, national progressive battles. Whenever I see the "please contact these legislators" lists, I tend to scan through, just to catch a surprising name from some OTHER state. Well, imagine my shame when such a list appeared on DKos today : Your phone calls are ESPECIALLY important if you are represented by one of these potential holdouts: Harry...

The morning session was wonderful - the success and failures. My notes about the topic is, it is all about dimension, and the diversity of the standard, and acceptance for the failure. Will write about it later when we are back from the afternoon...
