Move To The Right, Suffer At The Polls (UPDATED)

That’s what we’re learning from Delaware’s 2010 GOP Senate candidate, Mike Castle: This is one of the more surprising polls I’ve seen recently: Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of the vice president, is leading Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) in a hypothetical 2010 U.S. Senate matchup. The Susquehanna Polling & Research survey has Biden [...]

Hurtling Toward 2010, 11/17

The 2010 midterms are just around the corner (sort of). Here's what's happening: Vice President Joe Biden is hitting the trail for vulnerable Democratic Reps. Harry Mitchell (AV), Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ), and Dina Titus (NV); New York Gov. David Paterson (D) trails Attorney General Andrew Cuomo by 59 points in his reelection race, according to Siena; there's some doubt that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison...

Polling and Political Wrap-Up, 11/16/09

A surprising amount of new polling data as we kick off the new week. Contrary to the past two weeks, some of it is actually good news for Democrats, although there are a couple of brutal polls in there as well for the Blue team. DE-Sen: First Poll of Cycle Gives Biden Lead over Castle The pending "Clash of the Titans" in Delaware between longtime Republican Congressman Mike Castle and state...

Delaware Senate: New Poll Shows Beau Biden Leading Mike Castle

A new Susquehanna (R) “poll of the Delaware Senate race gives Democratic state Attorney General Beau Biden, a son of Vice President Joe Biden, a five-point lead over long-time GOP Congressman Mike Castle in the 2010 race for Joe Biden’s former Senate seat,” Talking Points Memo reports. The numbers: Beau 45%, Castle 40%, with a [...]

DE-Sen: Biden Up 5 On Castle

Susquehanna Polling and Research (R) (11/10-15, registered voters, 4/27-30 in parentheses): Beau Biden (D) : 45 (34) Mike Castle (R) : 40 (55) Undecided : 8 (8) (MoE: ?3.4%) Mike Castle may be rasping to himself, Lloyd Bridges-style, "Looks like I picked the wrong week to run for Senate." And Beau Biden, who's been strangely coy about whether or not to run for Senate since his return from...

Jamison Foser: Here's a health care polling article The Hill should have run

Last week, The Hill ran an article claiming "The healthcare battle appears to be helping Republicans running for the Senate," based on "the first major Senate polls since the House passed its healthcare bill on Saturday." But the polls -- one in Ohio and one in Connecticut -- were largely conducted before the vote had even occurred , and none of the candidates polled actually voted...

Congressmen, Beware: Oppose health care reform at your own peril

Some Democrats are already wringing their hands over the 2010 races. If they’re smart, they’ll have a look at what’s happening in Delaware and take heed: Beau Biden jumped 21 points in the polls to overtake incumbent GOP Representative Mike Castle after Castle voted against the House health care reform bill and for the Stupak [...]

Biden Moves Ahead of Castle in Delaware

A new Susquehanna Polling & Research poll in Delaware finds Attorney General Beau Biden (D) leading Rep. Mike Castle (R) by five points, 45% to 40%. In April, Castle led by 21 points. According to the pollster, the shift "may be a result of negative publicity [Castle] received in the state after casting a 'no' vote for President Obama's health care reform bill in the U.S. Congress."

Measure Twice, Cut Once

It’s silly pundits day on Delaware Liberal! The last time we talked about David Broder, he was spewing incorrect information on Mike Castle and the Senate race. I think he should have stuck to less complicated subject like domestic politics but this week he turned his conventional wisdom insights to Afghanistan: The more President [...]

Biden To Appear on The Daily Show

Pen this in on your calendar, Vice President Joe Biden will appear on The Daily Show Tuesday night. Last week we had soon-to-be-retired Congressman Mike Castle on Colbert talking about cocks and this week, Biden will say something stupid as well.

Not Delawhere but Delawhy?

Only Stephen Colbert could get Mike Castle to say "I cockblocked Delaware." (Select watch with normal commercial breaks and you will watch ad-free.)

Lavelle: Good News, Bad News

The good news: Republican State Representative Greg Lavelle will not throw his hat in for Mike Castle’s vacant Congressional seat, reports The Community News. “I recognize, and others in the GOP who are considering a run for the office must also recognize, that organizing a genuine and effective campaign, including the challenges of raising more than [...]

Republicans Leading In Seven Races For Democratic Senate Seats

Don Surber tallies the polls: Connecticut, Quinnipiac: Republican Rob Simmons 49, Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd 38. Delaware, Daily Kos: Republican Congressman Mike Castle 46, Democrat Beau Biden 45. Illinois, Public Policy Poling: Republican Mark Kirk 53, Democratic Sen. Roland Burris 19. Polls: Republicans could flip 6 or 7 Senate seats

Republicans have to take gain 11 seats in the Senate to regain control of that body. I think a gain of that size last occurred in 1958. So how is it going? Connecticut, Quinnipiac: Republican Rob Simmons 49, Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd 38. Delaware, Daily Kos: Republican Congressman Mike Castle 46, Democrat Beau Biden 45. Illinois, Public Policy Poling: [...]

Let's See How You Like It

This recess, a Democratic outside group is spending more than a $1 million on television commercials lambasting GOP lawmakers for voting against health care reform. The Foundation for Patients Rights, which is aligned with the Service Employees International Union, is planning ads in Delaware and Illinois against Reps. Mike Castle and Mark Kirk – both [...]
