Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will decide by the end of the week whether to get in the race for governor. Democrats have no major candidate in the race to replace Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle, who is not seeking a third term. Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton bowed out of the race last month and U.S. Rep. Ron Kind of La Crosse has declined to run.
