Al Gore

Al Gore

Born March 31, 1948, Albert Arnold "Al" Gore, Jr. is an American politician, businessman, and Nobel laureate.

Gore served in the United States House of Representatives (1977–85) and the United States Senate (1985–93) representing Tennessee. From 1993 to 2001, he was the forty-fifth Vice President of the United States, under Bill Clinton.

Gore was the Democratic nominee for President in the 2000 election, one of the most controversial elections in American history. After a series of voting discrepancies and court challenges in the state of Florida the United States Supreme Court, with its final ruling on Bush v. Gore, stopped ongoing ballot recounts, giving George W. Bush the electoral college victory, and consequently the presidency.

Today, Gore is president of the American television channel Current TV, chairman of Generation Investment Management, a director on the board of Apple Inc., an unofficial adviser to Google's senior management, and chairman of the Alliance for Climate Protection.

Gore lectures widely on the topic of global warming, and in 2006 starred in the Academy Award-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, discussing global warming and the environment. Under his leadership, one of Gore's organizations, Save Our Selves, organized the benefit concert Live Earth in an effort to raise awareness about climate change. The concert was held worldwide on July 07, 2007.

A look back at the Al Gore presidency

[Note: Continually thinking about how disastrous the last seven years have been, I did some imagining and research on what the world would be like if Al Gore had become president in 2001. Such a process is really about how important it is to elect the right president. I asked friends and acquaintances for their ideas, I read books by and about Gore, and I watched again his September 2000...

In an interview on NPR's "Fresh Air" broadcast, the jolly green giant made the charge while talking about the paperback release of his...

Sunday Funnies: Al Gore Says 'Global Warming Has Fried My Brain'

For several years since Nobel Laureate Al Gore started his campaign to frighten people into thinking they're destroying the planet every time they drive their cars, climate realists around the world have wondered just how much of the global warming myth the former Vice President actually believes. Syndicated columnist Jay Ambrose, in a satirical piece entitled "A Gore Confession" published...

No, Al Gore did not say the recent cyclone in Burma was caused by climate change (scruffydan.com)

No, Al Gore did not say that cyclone Nargis that devastated Burma was caused by climate change, He knows better than that. In fact he said the opposite, making it very clear that no individual whether event can be attributed to climate change. This is what he actually said: It's also important to note that the emerging consensus among the climate scientists is even though any individual storm...

Right-wing echo chamber promotes doctored and deceptive audio clip of Al Gore.

Earlier this week, the Business & Media Institute (BMI) – a right-wing front group founded by Brent Bozell – spliced and doctored an NPR interview of Al Gore in order to allege that Gore said something which he did not. The organization published a false headline which blared that Gore called the Myanmar cyclone a [...]

Are the Republicans running on Al Gore’s platform?

Or does John McCain just know a winning campaign issue when he sees one? From Time: McCain to the rescue? John McCain tried to make some news today — he pretty much came out in support of the ambitious Lieberman-Warner global warming bill — but nobody bothered to report it. Prospects have been dimming for the climate bill, which would impose a declining cap on U.S. greenhouse gas emissions . It's scheduled...
