| Description: | In the first decades of the 21st century, giant mechanized robots will begin to grow in popularity as a tool of force for the nations of the world. Eventually, the proliferation of these hulking beasts of metal will lead to large-scale global conflict, culminating in a nuclear holocaust. But the fighting still continues, and in the midst of the conflict, the Japanese faction decides that enough is enough. If there is any hope for humanity, peace must be achieved, and the only way that peace can be obtained in these troubled times is through force. As the pilot of your own giant robot, the HIGH-MACS III, you will set off with your battalion, the 501st Griffon Squad, to do whatever it takes to see that peace achieved. GunGriffon Blaze has you performing dangerous operations your attempt to bring about world peace. The game consists of six levels of action, taking place at points around the world, including Guam, Cape Canaveral, Tibet, Greece, Ukraine, and Egypt. Each of the missions is different depending on the level, and you will have your comrades in the 501st there to aid you in your tasks, be it destroying a space shuttle or rescuing refugees. Enemies such as soldiers, tanks, helicopters, and of course, rival robots will try to stop you from completing your missions, so you must use cover and the help of your battalion to succeed. After each level, you will be awarded points that you can use to buy power-ups, weapon upgrades, and even a new robot. GunGriffon Blaze is actually the third game in the GunGriffon series, as the first two appeared on the Sega Saturn in Japan. ~ Jon Thompson, All Game Guide |
