Jazz Jackrabbit (GBA) - 4 / 10

| Description: | Jazz Jackrabbit's adventures continue in this GBA installment in the space-faring rabbit's epic. Gone are the days when deed alone was reward enough for a hero, because this time around it's the allure of cold, hard cash that has kept Jazz on active duty and out of retirement. His latest escapade will see him journey across 24 platform-based levels, filled with the usual gauntlet of hindrances a veteran of the 16-bit era would expect. Jazz will encounter moving platforms, switches, and keys to unlock doors, as well as hordes of enemies and boss creatures bent on his destruction. Jazz is far from helpless though, as he can wield no fewer than six different weapons, from a standard blaster to rocket launchers and even flamethrowers. He also possesses a small stock of carrot grenades, to aid in a pinch.Complementing his running, jumping, and crouching maneuvers is his ability to float harmlessly down by spinning his ears as makeshift helicopter blades. Having collected the buckets of money littered about the levels, Jazz can then spend it between levels, purchasing new weapons, ammunition, or extra lives. The game also offers multiplayer support for both, single- and multi-pak play. Players, each controlling a Jackrabbit of their very own, hop about 11 unlockable levels, trying to blast each other to smithereens. The multi-pak mode supports both Deathmatch and Capture the Flag, while the single-pak supports only the former. In-game progress can be saved between stages, in one of the three battery backup save slots provided. ~ Gavin Frankle, All Game Guide |
