These new photos of her were taken after she won the gold in Berlin but were just released around the time she was waiting for the verdict on whether or not she could keep the medal she won there. And she can , yay! Can't help but think of how brawny much like an Amazon goddess she looks in these photos though. Semenya first caused an uproar when her fleet feet ran circles around the other runners...

Everyone has an opinion on this one but somehow this excellent article in The New Yorker by Ariel Levy seems to put things in perspective. The article starts looking at Semenya's track club in Limpopo Province in South Africa- Moletjie Athletics Club. A club where running barefoot on dirt tracks that if you're lucky will be cleared of thorns and stones is the norm; in a province where poverty is everywhere...

Stuff I made up: News today that South African 800m World Champion Caster Semenya is planning ahead for the 2012 London Olympic games by setting up a training camp in the UK near the official Olympic venue. She will be based at Feltham in Middlesex. (Surrey if you didn’t find that amusing)

Ariel Levy did a piece on runner Caster Semenya for the New Yorker this week. Semenya's competition eligibility is up in the air because the IAAF (the worldwide governing body for track and field) can't decide whether she is a woman or a man.
