I just want to throw this out there because the people on my teevee love themselves some counting stats and intangibles. Last night, in discussing Evan Longoria 's case for the last slot on the AL roster, Buck Showalter asserted that (paraphrasing) "even though his stats do not stack up, this is a guy the fans want to see." Happy birthday to Donnie Sadler, who turns 33 today. Ah, Donnie Sadler...the scourge of Rangers fans in 2003, when Buck Showalter was platooning him at third base with Hank Blalock, and making public proclamations about how he needed to find a way to get Sadler more playing time. If you didn't see it after last night's Tigers game, John Kruk and Buck Showalter talked about Dontrelle Willis 's demotion to Single-A on "Baseball Tonight," comparing videotape of the 2007 version of D-Train to his 2008 counterpart. Something Kruk and Showalter didn't look at, however, is how added bulk on the D-Train might be affecting his delivery. That's a point both Buster Olney and Ken Rosenthal...
