The A's and Royals held talks for infielder Alberto Callaspo at the GM Meetings, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. The A's would've used Callaspo at third base, but "talks failed to progress." The takeaway is that the Royals appear willing to discuss Callaspo now that they've acquired Chris Getz from the White Sox. Callaspo, 27 in April, hit .300/.356/.457 in 634...

The big news in Royalsville are the DeJesus rumors and the announcement that Alberto Callaspo did not qualify for arbitration as a Super Two. Expect Moore to get great anti-value for these guys any day now. The little news, but maybe a growing meme, is the Mike Moustakas weight gain. Sickels brought back a negative report from Arizona, and I've seen at least one other reference as well. If you're into...

Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star dishes on the Royals... Dayton Moore...step away from the free agent market. The Royals are moving toward trades, with an eye on the long-term. Owner David Glass says the plan is to "turn over some of the club." Moore already made a nice move in flipping Mark Teahen for Josh Fields and Chris Getz. Dutton again mentions the talks between the Dodgers and Royals...

Royals second baseman Alberto Callaspo fell five days short of qualifying for arbitration under the labor agreement’s super-2 provision. That figures to cost him several hundred thousands of dollars. Third baseman Alex Gordon, as expected, was one of 10 players who qualified for arbitration under the provision. The list was announced Wednesday.

Its practitioners will read trade rumors regarding the Kansas City Royals and pray to a statue of Dayton Moore that the real life version will make it come true. I presume that based on this rumor , there will be a lot of worshipers. Moore arrives today in Chicago for the annual GM meetings, which typically set the groundwork for possible trades. The meetings run through Wednesday, but the hot stove...

Below is the table of most of the available free agents, I've added a column of interest. I have no idea who Ned may be targeting. We know we need a 2nd baseman to replace Hudson/Bellaird, someone in the rotation to replace Wolf, possibly a bullpen piece. Tepid interest for me means that I'd like to have that player on the Dodgers , but that I expect the price to be more then I would like the Dodgers...
