Day One of the Winter Meetings: Tampa or Bust for Bradley?

The first day of the Winter Meetings was filled with more rumors than activity throughout the game ... and the Cubs were not exempt from the constant twittering and updates from the Marriott lobby in Indianapolis. Most of the noise around the Cubs centered on Milton Bradley but there were a few new names added to the mill. Brandon Lyon , Gil Meche , Melky Cabrera and Braden Looper were among the players...

Looper Interested In Pitching For The Cubs

Braden Looper tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports that he would pitch for the Cubs. Looper says they're an "appealing" destination, partly because he has three kids going to Chicago schools. Still, the 35-year-old wouldn't mind pitching elsewhere. "I'm going to look around and see what my options are," Looper said. So far the righty says discussions have been slow to develop. Looper...

A Trip to Arby's

View full size photo » Hello, everyone. I hope this Wednesday finds you all well. I decided to put off beginning my look around the NL Central series again this week, seeing as how there is actual, somewhat interesting news to discuss, so it'll just have to wait. The arbitration offers are in, and the Cardinals made offers to three of their four compensation-eligible players. Holliday, Jo-El...

Not to (Type) B

Yesterday began with a call from the Milwaukee Brewers. “Hello, Tyler. As a ticket holder in previous seasons, we thought you may be interested in a holiday 4-pack,” the woman said. Shaken from sleep, I struggled to answer, “Maybe… maybe later,” I managed. “Maybe later.” And judging by how Milwaukee handled Tuesday’s deadline to offer arbitration to...

Brewers Do Not Offer Arb To Any Free Agents

The Brewers chose not to offer arbitration to any of their free agents, tweets Tom Hauricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The Brewers had five Type Bs in Braden Looper, David Weathers, Felipe Lopez, Jason Kendall, and Mike Cameron. A case could've been made for Lopez, but GM Doug Melvin said earlier that they didn't have a spot for him.

Another Thing I'm Thankful For: Baseball Reference

by Bob Levey - AP Bringing Mike Cameron back for next season might be too expensive for the Brewers, but you can purchase his Baseball Reference page for $30. View full size photo » Even before I started writing about the Brewers , I used Baseball Reference a fair amount. Now, though, I use it every day. During the season, I probably use it five or more times each day. If you've ever looked up...

Braden Looper Bought Out by Brewers

Starting pitcher Braden Looper was bought out by the Milwaukee Brewers for $1 million this weekend. The other option for the Brewers was to pay Looper $6.5 million next season — but Milwaukee decided against that idea. The good news for Looper last season is that he led the Brewers in victories with a record of 14-7. The bad news is that he didn’t pitch very well. In fact, he led all of...
