I used to play that game all the time when I was a kid. Baseball affords a different way to play, instead of appearing with, you can play six degrees by who was traded for whom. It's kinda neat to see the way in which past Dodgers have turned into current Dodgers. For example, did you know that there is a direct link between Mike Piazza and Andre Ethier ? Well, neither did I. So Mike Piazza was drafted...

Annie and I finally got goldfish for our apartment. Their names are Jordan Catalano, Brian Krakow, and Angela Chase. I really hope you know what I am referencing, if not please go watch every episode of My So Called Life right now. The first couple of days in their new home Brian and Angela had quite a love affair, I caught them kissing multiple times, and swimming around the tank holding fins. Jordan...

As the curtain drops on another — yet another — post-season that won’t include my Braves, I find myself looking for a substitute. In the heyday of my twenties and early thirties (insofar as what I did with those years qualifies as a ‘heyday’), Atlanta was a perennial October fixture. Year after year, I could count on the Braves to play, to entertain, and to mostly rip...

I'm taking a break for just a few paragraphs from the McGwire posts I've been writing to address the awful play of the St. Louis Cardinals. The team has lost 5 straight and has had an anemic offense since mid-May. While I am no baseball expert who has his own TV, written for 10 yrs about it, or played pro ball, I have watched this team intently for over 10 years. So I feel I can make some observations....

A few days ago, philkid3 had a fanpost on the oddly impressive baseball career of Deion Sanders , you should check it out. Other than Deion and Bo, Brian Jordan also played both sports - not at the same time. Sames went for Tom Brown, but D.J. Dozier played Minor League ball while in the NFL, and his last season in football was also his only year with a major league appearance. There were some pitchers...

The Colorado Rockies have added five coaches to their staff, including former manager Don Baylor as hitting coach. The team also brought in Jim Tracy to serve as the bench coach and Rich Dauer as third base coach. Jim Wright becomes the bullpen coach and Brian Jordan will be the strength and conditioning coach. Baylor was the first manager in Rockies history, leading the team from 1993-98.
