Should the Braves re-sign Adam LaRoche?

Depends on a lot of things, obviously, but what parameters would make signing him a net positive. First of all, let’s look at Adam LaRoche, the player™. LaRoche was re-acquired for Casey Kotchman at the 2009 trade deadline in the hope that he would provide some much needed power for the line-up that had been largely [...]

More photos » by John Bazemore - AP Adam LaRoche should be the guy manning first base for the Atlanta Braves next season. Browse more photos » Some of this will be a bit of a rehashing of a post I did earlier this week that was mainly about Adam LaRoche , but much of it is worth repeating. Big Papi Needs to Sit for Game 3

David Ortiz is in a slump again; he is having a hard time catching up to fastballs and Angels pitchers are giving him a steady diet of them. He is now 0-8 in the ALDS with 4 strikeouts and has not even hit the ball hard on and of his outs. Big Papi has a career average of .205 against Angels Game 3 starter Scott Kazimir so don't expect a big turnaround at Fenway. Casey Kotchman has 2 hits in 5 career...

Baldelli Out; Anderson & Gathright In

Rocco Baldelli will not be active for the ALDS with the Angels, due to his hip flexor problem. He will be eligible for the ALCS should the Red Sox advance. That means that Brian Anderson and Joey Gathright will be on the roster. Anderson has a terrific glove but absolutely no stick. Neither are a big threat off the bench, so Baldelli's presence will be missed. Here is the final Red Sox ALDS roster:...
