As Game Two rolls along...well, maybe not 'rolls.' Chugs? Drags? Anyway, as Game Two continues, here are a few newsbits from everywhere but Yankee Stadium in the MLB universe... R.J. Anderson of Fangraphs believes that the Red Sox will be making a mistake if they sign Jason Bay to the four-year/$60MM contract that Jon Heyman reported (via Twitter) the club is willing to offer. The M’s made some procedural moves today. Bryan LaHair, Cesar Jimenez, Marwin Vega, and Randy Messenger were outrighted to Triple-A, getting them off the 40 man roster. The M’s attempted to outright Justin Thomas as well, but Pittsburgh claimed him on waivers, so he’s now property of the Pirates. No big news [...] -- This post came from: U.S.S. You know how testy we get when people make comments about how awesome our could be in years? Remember the Nageotte/Blackley/Meche/Anderson rotations, Clement/Johjima/Johnson/Moore catching caches and Ichiro/Gutierrez/Saunders/Ackley outfields? We do our best to try and keep people grounded on these types of issues because, as it turns out, the future is incredibly hard to predict and a hell of a lot...

The headline says it all. The Mariners have opted to call up journeyman minor leaguer Guillermo Quiroz, a onetime top prospect with Toronto, from Class AA to fill the void left by Kenji Johjima's injury. Johjima goes to the 15-day DL and pitcher Cesar Jimenez is transferred to the 60-day DL.
