To complete the minor league week here on Batters Box let's look at the movement in the top 30 lists from 2008 to 2009. Five players graduated to the major leagues, replaced by five players who are new to the organization since last season. Thirteen players dropped off the list from 2008 and thirteen players made it on to the lists despite being overlooked last year. Graduates: Travis Snider, #1 in...

And that's 'cause they didn't play. At least this thing's almost over. Las Vegas 4 Portland 5 Well, J.P. Arencibia 's nice little hot streak came to a crashing halt with an 0-for-4 with 3 Ks. Brian Dopirak's didn't, though as he went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI, which gives him 102 across two levels. Fabio Castro wasn't all that fabulous in his final start of the season going 5 innings and allowing three runs...

A 3-3 record on a Friday night is reason to celebrate. There is just over a week remaining in the minor league regular season, so it's time for prospects to leave a positive impression going into the off-season. Reno 6 Las Vegas 0 Davis Romero, much better suited to the bullpen, was roughed up again in a start and allowed four runs in five innings. He also allowed two homers. Bill Murphy's struggles...

Honestly, this was depressing to read and write about. Absolutely nothing of note went on for the affiliates as they picked up one win in five tries. I'm just writing out the string at this point. Las Vegas 5 Salt Lake 6 Kevin Howard , Buck Coats , and Jason Lane each had two hits for the 51s while Aaron Mathews drove in a pair. J.P. Arencibia was 0-for-3 but did manage a walk. Davis Romero started...

Many reports have come out that the Jay pitchers are hitting their inning limit. Lets look at the kids and see where they are against their recent past. Speculation on who should/will come up to fill in is welcome. Listing player with B-R link, maximum innings they have ever thrown in a professional season, 2009 innings (all levels) and how many innings they should have left with the +30 IP rule (a...

It wasn't a good night for the Ricky in Toronto or Davis in Las Vegas but it was a good one for New Hampshire and the boys on the Gulf Coast. Also, an Auburn Doubleday was representin' at the New York Penn League All-Star Game, yo! Read on, my peeps! Round Rock 5 Las Vegas 4 Las Vegas, NV - A leadoff triple by Reggie Abercrombie was not the way Davis Romero wanted to start this one. The diminutive...

So I have a question for you all. Cito has said that Jeremy Accardo was sent down to Triple-A because there is "somebody there we want to get up here and take a look at." I'm taking it for granted that it is a pitcher, because if it was a bat we'd likely have sent down a bat. He didn't say who it was they want to take a look at, we will likely find out Friday, so we have a day to speculate....

David Cooper had a big night, three hits including a two run game winning home run in the ninth inning. Lansing won in extra innings, or rather South Bend loast it as the Lugnuts last five runs were unearned. The GCL Jays won behind a three hitter. Las Vegas, Dunedin and Auburn each lost. Las Vegas 4 Iowa 5 Las Vegas jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Howie Clark doubled, Travis Snider...

Dirk Hayhurst worked two scoreless innings. Casey Janssen and Edward Buzachero each worked a scoreless inning with two Ks. Buck Coats had four hits in five at-bats. He also scored two runs and hit a double. Travis Snider stayed hot with...

Sorry for the delay. I'm actually on vacation in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Of all the things I've hoped to do in this small artists town about a three hour drive north of Mexico City, sounding off on another disappointing day for the affiliates isn't one of them. I haven't looked at the boxscores yet so this had better be worth it.EDIT: It was Salt Lake 6 Las Vegas 18 Alright, this is a good start....

I apologize for the lateness of today's report. I was in Wisconsin over the weekend for a Coldplay concert and speaking of cold play (see what I did there?), I managed to catch a Brewers game on the way back where Jeff Suppan got whacked by the Nationals, or more specifically Josh Willingham , 14-6 . With family in the Cheesehead State, I've been a fairly regular visitor to Milwaukee but Milwaukee...

Another ugly day on the farm included just one win, all the way down in Low-A ball while two pitchers, including a rehabbing righty, left their starts early. Happy Monday! Las Vegas 9 Tacoma 14 Not a good night for rehabbing Jays in this one. Shaun Marcum started and went two innings, allowing a run on two hits and a walk. After 34 pitches, he was gone. No reason was stated and a quick search online...
