THE SCENE: Game 2 of the International League Championship Series. Second inning, Scranton-Wilkes Barre has already taken a 1-0 lead in the inning and has runners on first and second with no outs. A groundball up the middle appears destined for center field and an RBI. Enter Elliot Johnson. You have to see it to [...]

[Via email from the Durham Bulls' broadcaster Neil Solondz.]Michel Hernandez belted a two-run homer in a four-run second, but Louisville rallied past the Bulls 10-7, forcing a deciding game five in their first-round playoff series. Hernandez's two-run homer to left, Durham's first of the playoffs, followed Elliot Johnson's two-run single, and gave Durham a 4-2 advantage. Louisville stormed back

Per Marc Lancaster. Elliot Johnson played shortstop last night for the Bulls, and with Sean Rodriguez , Henry Mateo , and Ray Olmedo around, I suppose the Rays feel Brignac's ability to fill in for Jason Bartlett is a better usage of his time than playing for Durham.

I expect the Rays to receive a lower level minor league prospect (highest possibly a pitcher) as the PTBNL. Check out the reports of some prospects I would like to have as the PTBNL. AAA - Salt Lake City: Brandon Wood (SS/3B): He is a boom or bust candidate. He hasn't shown anything of his power in the majors yet, but he once again dominated AAA pitching. His defense at third should be above average...

After Friday's game the Rays optioned reliever Jeff Bennett to Triple-A Durham . Bennett pitched in seven games appearing mostly in low leverage situations. This was intended to make room for Chad Bradford to be activated from the DL again. However, Pat Burrell would leave Friday's game with a stiff neck and could possibly see another DL trip. The Rays may delay Bradford's return until they know Burrell's...

[Via email from the Durham Bulls' broadcaster Neil Solondz.]Elliot Johnson sparked a six-run rally in the ninth, as Durham beat Gwinnett 9-5 on Thursday to move within a game of first place. Johnson, who was 3-for-5, singled to start the ninth against closer Luis Valdez (5-4). He then scored from first on Henry Mateo's one-out triple to center, jarring the ball loose from Clint Sammons in a

It is funny to say the Rays need anymore speed being the #1 team in stolen bases . Still the bench is pretty weak for late game pinch running for slowpokes like Burrell, Navarro, and Aybar. I have been thinking that the Rays were looking into getting some faster than benchwarmer Joe Dillon , but the Rays either weren't on the same page with me or there wasn't any good trade or waiver wire pickups....

[Via email from the Durham Bulls' broadcaster Neil Solondz.]Elliot Johnson homered from both sides of the plate, the last breaking a 2-2 tie in the eighth, as Durham beat Scranton 4-2 on Monday night. Johnson's homer to left off rehabbing MLB lefty Damoso Marte (0-1) was a quick answer after Scranton had tied the game with a two-run seventh. Matt Joyce then followed two batters later with a
