It wasn't all bad in '09: Best Offensive Performances by the Orioles

More photos » by Chris O'Meara - AP In 2010 the top 7 offensive performances by an Oriole will all be by Matt Wieters. (AP Photo/Chris O'Meara) Browse more photos » Baseball-Reference.com just revamped their Play Index tool and I've been messing around with it to learn all the new features. They've added some good stuff, so far my favorite is that you can do a search on how many times a...

A Preliminary Look at the 2010 AL East Offenses - Part 3

More photos » by Rob Carr - AP Bring it. (AP Photo/Rob Carr) Browse more photos » The final look at Bill James' projections will focus on the Orioles young outfield. In Part 1 I drooled over Matt Wieters , in Part 2 I went into fantasyland , and here in Part 3 I will bask in the talent of the Orioles outfield. It's hardly news to anyone here that the Orioles outfield is one of the most...

A look back at 2009, Camden Chat style.

With postseason baseball still going on, there isn't much to talk about Orioles -wise beyond the minor moves that have been made in the past few days. I figure with 1 to 2 days of the baseball season remaining, it might be fun to take a look at the events of the 2009 Orioles seasons. Not a recap or analysis, really, as a ton of sites have already done that, but a look back at some memorable events...

O's in the Winter Leagues

duck has been linking to them in most of our daily open threads, but if you haven't been reading Dean Jones, Jr.'s daily AFL recaps , you're missing out on a lot of good information on the O's young prospects. I have it added to my google reader so I don't miss the updates. The AFL has been going for about a week now and the Orioles hitters are putting together a very strong showing so far. Josh Bell...

An Offseason Process I Could Trust

So this is what I am left with: doomed to follow a baseball team that uses pre-modern techniques for assessing players I am forced to come up with my own alternate reality that I hope will happen. I will list some groups of players that I would look to acquire at each position we need. I admit the plan is not "sexy" but it better positions us for 2011/12 and should improve the club next season....

"Which Oriole have you booed longer and louder than anyone else?"

read: The First Timers by Roch Kubatko i was reading this article lazily this "early" morning until i hit that magical line. among the names he mentioned, plus a whole lot more, "Which Orioles have you booed longer and louder than anyone else?" i laughed. after reading this, there was one name that came to mind. Felix Pie (pronounced as peeeyey). i am so guilty of being disappointed...

Discussion: What's Next For Baltimore?

The Baltimore Sun's Dan Connolly details the questions facing a Baltimore team with some young offensive talent, some terrific young pitching on the way, and a lot of extra cash. Connolly writes that while the 64-98 record Baltimore had in 2009 was the third-worst in team history, "there is a sense that the future has promise because of the emergence of young starting pitchers Brian Matusz, Chris...
