Everything was going smoothly for the Phillies until Mother Nature intervened. Cole Hamels had left the game with a 6-4 lead after seven innings. Raul Ibanez smacked a late home run. Ryan Howard had four runs batted in on a glorious double and a home run. Then, the rains came and the momentum went out the window. Perhaps the same thing would have happened anyway, just about forty minutes earlier. Ryan...

As being reported by Clark Spencer (via twitter), Chris Volstad and Gaby Sanchez to be recalled. Gaby Sanchez and Chris Volstad will join #Marlins in New York Volstad was the starter for the Zephyrs yesterday . Volstad (0-1), who allowed three runs and five hits in four innings, was making his Zephyrs debut after being sent down by the Marlins last week. He struck out seven and walked two. Well at...

As I'm sure you all know, Chris Volstad and Gaby Sanchez were optioned to New Orleans in search for some bullpen help . The bullpen is so shot that not only was Volstad optioned to Triple A, but so was infielder Gaby Sanchez. The Marlins plan to call up a couple of pitchers, one of which is expected to be reliever Luis Ayala . The other is expected to be Tim Wood . I must admit neither excites me,...

Jorge Cantu missed last night's game with a strained neck. Cantu is dealing with a sore neck, which he started noticing in about the seventh or eighth inning on Wednesday. The discomfort became so great during batting practice on Thursday that he had to abort the session. --- Cantu said after Thursday's game that the neck was still bothering him, leaving his status for Friday and beyond uncertain....

As expected the Marlins recalled Gaby Sanchez but in order to make room for him on the 25-man roster the Marlins optioned Rick VandenHurk . On Tuesday afternoon, the Marlins optioned right-hander Rick VandenHurk to Triple-A New Orleans, and recalled infielder Gaby Sanchez from Triple-A. A little surprised about VandenHurk especially with the Hopper still on the DL. VandenHurk didn't pitch badly, though...

It appears Gaby Sachez is on his way to Houston to rejoin the team. GameFish was the first to alert to the possibility, here is her message on twitter. HLDSmarlins RT @ zephyrsbaseball Gaby Sanchez leaves game early. With Nick Johnson day to day with hamstring, is Gaby going back up to the #Marlins ? My initial thought was if Nick Johnson was going to be out for any extended period of time, the club...

Turning point: The Zephyrs scored six runs in the first two innings, with Gaby Sanchez's three-run home run in the second inning giving them a 6-1 lead. Take a bow: Sanchez added a two-run homer in the fourth and a single in the seventh and finished the game with five RBIs. Who's hot: Sacramento outfielder Travis Buck went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, raising his average to .291. Who's not: River Cats...
