Eddie B / Detroit Tigers Thoughts : Final Elias Rankings - American League Relief Pitchers … Kyle Farnsworth appears to be short of Type B Status. To add insult to injury, he ends up behind the likes of Gary Glover. Naturally, Casey Fossum was also well short of Type B. Among the free agents, who should the Tigers look at?

Indians 4, Tigers 3 (10): Grady Sizemore became the first Indians outfielder to hit 30 homers and steal 30 bases since Joe Carter in 1987, and the first American Leaguer to accomplish said feat since A. Soriano in 2005. Franklin Gutierrez broke a 3-3 tie with a 10th inning homer off Gary Glover, son of [...]

Just the links today... DEVIL RAYS WEBTOPIA ... Gary Glover was designated for assignment. The Rays have 10 days to try and trade him. If not, they can then try to send him to the minors, but he must clear waivers and Glover can choose to refuse the assignment and become a free agent. The Rays made it clear they would have preferred to keep RHP Gary Glover around. They just didn't have anywhere to put him.

Time for another round of odds and ends this evening. RotoAuthority attempts to project next year's first round in fantasy baseball drafts. The Rays designated Gary Glover for assignment. Glover, 31, experienced even worse control this year en route to a 5.82 ERA. Yankees GM Brian Cashman denied the report that prospect Phil Coke has a torn labrum. The Xavier Nady acquisition allowed the Yankees to...

Manager Joe Maddon said before Sunday's game that RHP Gary Glover was ready to come off the DL and that they would have to soon make a decision. That appears to be imminent, as Glover left the clubhouse after Sunday's game clearly unhappy, and refusing comment. Glover is flying home to Tampa rather than accompany the team to Toronto, which would seem to indicate he's not going to be rejoining the...

MLB.com: • The Rays, also-rans in the CC Sabathia chase, have scouts looking at relievers, with Ron Mahay and Brian Fuentes among the pitchers they are considering. First thought: this doesn't speak too well for Trever Miller. Second thought: this actually doesn't speak too well for Gary Glover. Final thought: methinks Jason Hammel isn't going to like his new destination. 08 OPSa v. LHB v. RHB Mahay...

THE GOOD: The 7th inning. Gary Glover was ginormous in the 7th with a man on second with no outs and Manny Being Manny up in a 4-1 game. There is a very big difference psychologically, between a 3-run lead and a 4-run lead. After working the count full on Ramirez, Glover got Manny to fly out to Gomes in right. He then got Mike Lowell to pop up to Carlos Pena who had to reach over the dugout railing....

Only one thing can encompass how this feels: Okay and perhaps a few hundred words... When PECOTA projected 88 wins for us, I'll admit I was thinking of ways that wouldn't happen. As it turns out Scott Kazmir has missed time, as has Carlos Pena, and Carl Crawford, and Gary Glover along with Jason Hammel are still on the team. Here we are, in first place, June 29th, and like Jim I really don't want...

THE GOOD: The Bullpen in general and Gary Glover and Jason Hammel specifically. Yes Hammel gave up the walk-off home run, but we thought the game was over when both Glover entered the game in the 9th and when Hammel came on in the 12th. The two combined for 4.2 innings with only 1 run on 3 hits and no walks. At some point they were going to give up a run and they did a great job of holding the Pirates...

Lancaster: The Rays opened up a roster spot for Troy Percival by placing Al Reyes back on the disabled list with shoulder tendinitis, meaning Grant Balfour and Gary Glover will remain in the bullpen. I'm convinced we're really never going to get rid of Glover. Oh well, at least a more deserving player hasn't lost his spot over it, yet.

You also can't depend on Gary Glover and his now 1.8 WHIP to keep any game close. I know I said I'd make a post about 1,000 pitchers who are/were > Glover, but I'd just copy and paste rosters. Edwin was also less than impressive today, especially the last few innings where he waked four. Look if he can not walk people, like had before, he'll be a good pitcher, but you give up 10 baserunners in 5.3...
