Pitcher Rich Hill, outfielder Jeff Fiorentino and catcher Guillermo Rodriguez all rejected a minor league assignment by the Orioles and elected free agency instead. At first I thought it was a fluke, but when I first installed Win7 Beta on a new HDD on my laptop, one of my USB ports stopped working and performance of the others took a nosedive, with some USB devices not getting enough power. I tried a reinstall with Win7 RC and now three of my four USB ports are having the same issues. It may not even be an issue with Windows 7 but there seems to be a correlation...

Three 2009 Orioles have decided to refuse an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk and have elected to file for free agency. Pitcher Rich Hil l, outfielder Jeff Fiorentino and catcher Guillermo Rodriguez have filed their paperwork with Major League Baseball and have informed the Orioles that they will become free agents. Rich Hill, Bob McCrory and Alfredo Simon, three pitchers who had arm surgeries this year, passed through waivers and were outrighted off the Orioles' 40-man roster Friday. Hill and Simon, along with outfielder Jeff Fiorentino and catcher Guillermo Rodriguez, who were outrighted Thursday, now have eight days to decide whether they want to elect free agency.
