Next Tuesday, between 11am - 1pm, Jamie Moyer will be signing the 2010 Moyer Foundation calendar at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance . The calendars, which you can see here , cost $5 and benefit Hutch School for children whose lives have been affected by cancer. You may feel disinclined to spend $5 on a signed calendar somewhere else when you can spend $5 on a signed baseball card from eBay without leaving...

Myers Won't Be Back The part of me that remembers he's a person says "good riddance." The cold-blooded GM wannabe, though, wonders if a low base, make-good deal to bring him back as a fifth starter might not have been a better way to go. Remember that the most likely alternative in-house options are Jamie Moyer and Kyle Kendrick.

So does the fact that what the Phillies have accomplished in the past three years – three Eastern Division championships, two National League championships, one World Championship – is more than the San Francisco Giants, the team of my youth, have accomplished in their 51 years in the Baghdad by the Bay, make up for my disappointment on Wednesday? No. Not really. Already the mind starts...

Here goes: 1. Did Cole Hamels Lose The Clubhouse with His Remarks in the World Series? Don't know how big an issue this is. Despite Charlie Manuel's closing of the ranks, I'm sure that Hamels did damage with his "I can't wait for this to be over" line. Baseball players are among the most competitive people on the planet, and I can't believe that guys who push themselves hard for a long haul...

that. . . Brad Lidge would blow about 30% of his saves and have an ERA over 7.00; and Brett Myers would miss most of the season; and Jamie Moyer would lose his effectiveness; and J.C. Romero would get suspended and contribute almost nothing to the team; and All members of the bullpen save Ryan Madson would spend time on the disabled list; and Carlos Ruiz would only get 322 at-bats; and Raul Ibanez...

PHILADELPHIA -- Earlier this week, Jamie Moyer was lamenting that nobody just sits around and talks about baseball anymore. So Jamie Moyer, 46 years old and now in his 23rd season and without much else to do since he is not on the Phillies' World Series roster, decided that he would sit around and talk baseball. And so that is what he did during the Phillies off-day last Friday. Talk. About pitching...

With two gone in the ninth and his team down by a run, Jimmy Rollins lined a 99 mph fastball from All-Star closer Jonathan Broxton for a two-run double to help his Philadelphia Phillies rally over the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4 Monday night. Make that a 3-1 lead in the NLCS for the Phightin Phils , who now need just one win to punch their World Series ticket. Rollins, who struggled much of the regular...

The Phillies' catcher is a great field general, steadier of pitchers, good game-caller and clutch hitter. His on-base percentage is good, and he's a core part of the Phillies' success. But right now at Citizens Bank Park, while you can purchase jerseys or t-shirts with the names and numbers of the likes of Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, Jayson Werth, Shane Victorino and Raul Ibanez, as well...

PHILADELPHIA — Jimmy Rollins curled up to protect himself in the pile and took some playful punches from his teammates. One more win and the Fightin' Phils will have another World Series trip to celebrate. Rollins lined a two-run double with two outs in the ninth inning off All-Star closer Jonathan Broxton and the Philadelphia Phillies rallied past the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4 Monday night for...

In 2004, the Detroit Pistons whupped the Lakers in the NBA Finals 4-1. The Pistons' four wins were by an average of 13+ points; the Lakers' lone win came after a miracle game-tying shot that forced overtime. Sports journos called it a "five-game sweep" because of the Pistons' dominance. The NLCS is shaping up to be the same. The Phillies can pound the ball, their starters have pitched 15...

Did you see the radar-gun readings for Pedro Martinez during Game 2 of the NLCS? By the fifth inning, most of Pedro's pitches couldn't have gotten arrested for speeding. ••• In Montana, anyway. ••• Now we know why the Phillies signed Martinez and moved Jamie Moyer to the bullpen. Moyer wasn't throwing slow enough. ••• I'm tellin' ya, compared to Pedro, Moyer...

The Phillies clinched a spot in the National League Championship Series for the second year in a row. They will face their opponent from last year's NLCS , the Los Angeles Dodgers. Surely the Dodgers remember last year's five game series victory by the Phillies in Dodger Stadium and will be ready for some payback of their own. This season the Dodgers took the season series, but it could just as easily...
