Colorado Rockies Top 10 Pitching Leaders I forgot to look into this and/or mention this last time CR was published, but Jason Hammel is even more of a man than any of us realized. If you scroll down to "Strikeouts / Base On Balls" (about 2/3 of the way down), take a quick look at the leaderboard there, and how much of a jump there is from 1st to 2nd.

by David Zalubowski - AP Awesomeness in the form of a #5 starter. View full size photo uploaded October 20, 2009 Jason Hammel is a stud. At least, in my opinion he is. I found that he really solidified his spot in the rotation after a shaky April. He had a bit of an ugly July as well, but all things averaging out, Hammel finished the season at 10-8 with a 4.33 ERA, 176 2/3 IP, and a nice friendly smile...

(note: bumped from FanPosts) In the same vein as yesterday's Minor League free agents, these are the John Maine -esque, under the radar steals of typically cheap, young pitchers that for whatever reason become available. Whether it's a post-hype prospect (like Maine), a 4-5 starter that's out of options but won't make the 40-man or just a player that's being overlooked, usually this is someone who...

Ryan Howard's ninth inning sac fly gave the Phillies a late lead Phillies take a 2-1 lead in NLDS If you were devoted enough to stay up until 2:15am then you saw a terrific win by the Philadelphia Phillies. The defending world champs outlasted a resilient Colorado Rockies squad to the tune of 6-5 last night and saw their nerve racking closer Brad Lidge record the save. With the victory the Phillies...

It's been a long layoff. How long? The Angels and Red Sox had had yet to play a single game in their ALDS matchup when the Phillies and Rockies completed their Game Two on Thursday afternoon. The Angels just eliminated the Red Sox, three games to none, earlier this afternoon. J.A. Happ, Lefty #3, gets the ball tonight for the Phillies, versus Jason Hammel. It's a cold one in Denver.
