Currently the Baltimore Orioles are going into the 2010 with a promising four-man rotation, with Jeremy Guthrie as the ace and three young guys behind him. The problems are that the guys are all young and it’s also a four-man rotation. The promise those guys bring thou have the Orioles thinking [...]

The Orioles have Jeremy Guthrie and three young starters already penciled into their 2010 rotation, but they haven't ruled out added a quality pitcher with a recent injury history, according to Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com. When asked about Ben Sheets and former Oriole Erik Bedard, team president Andy MacPhail said: "We would consider them. They would have to be vetted medically. They don't...

For over three years people on this blog have complained that the Orioles have lacked a true ace for years. At some point two seasons ago, many believed that Jeremy Guthrie might be the closest this team has had since the migration of Moose and were rebuffed by a subpar performance this passed season. The reality is this team has two, maybe three, aces in the making in Chris Tillman and Brian Matusz...

Here's some Thursday links... Brett Myers said it would be "upsetting" to leave Philadelphia, according to FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi. It would make sense for Myers to market himself as a starter this offseason, but Morosi points out that the Phillies already have five starters returning in 2010. Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com doesn't see the Orioles opening their wallet for John Lackey....

This breakfast took place just two days prior to A-Rod first at-bat of the season, a home run off Jeremy Guthrie in Baltimore. It seems like Yankees fans owe the people at this meeting a big thank you for their efforts. I would have to say their methods worked. From Ian O'Conner : “I sat down with two very close friends and they told me a lot of things,” Rodriguez said Tuesday, “things...

This past weekend, at his blog for the New York Post, Joel Sherman suggested the Mets look at acquiring Jeremy Guthrie, Gil Meche and Ervin Santana, as buy-low candidates. Today, at Amazin Avenue, Sam Page takes a statistical look at Guthrie and Meche, and suggests three other buy-low candidates to consider. Speaking of acquisitions, Ed Leyro of [...]

Recently at the Post, Joel Sherman threw some water on the John Lackey dreams of many Mets fans, instead proposing a series of buy-low candidates the Mets would be prudent to acquire. His criteria reads: So if the obvious avenues are blocked, where do the Mets go? I am going to recommend three starters that have this in common: They are AL flyball pitchers with high-end stuff, coming off bad years...

A few links to browse while you recover from last night's 13-inning marathon in the Bronx.... The New York Post's Joel Sherman has a plan for the Mets' rotation: take advantage of spacious Citi Field by pursuing fly ball pitchers instead of the ground ball pitchers that everyone else will covet. Sherman's ideas include Jeremy Guthrie, Gil Meche, and Ervin Santana. Adam Rubin at the New York Daily News...
