Browse more photos » All (Relatively) Quiet on the Colorado Front The Sporting News' choice for Executive of the Year has a lot of pans to juggle in the fire at this year's GM meetings, not that it is unusual. SMUG via i.a.cnn.net View full size photo » According to The Sporting News' Jeff D'Alessio, Colorado General Manager Dan O'Dowd has won the publication's Executive of the Year award. The man well known in the past around these parts as "Dealin' Dan," "Dan O'Dud," and "Dan O'Clown" was largely viewed as a genius this season, simply for firing Clint Hurdle and replacing...

Colorado Re-Signs Matt Belisle, Randy Flores

The Rockies re-signed relievers Matt Belisle and Randy Flores to one-year contracts on Thursday. Terms of the deals weren't announced, though both pitchers were eligible for salary arbitration. Belisle, a right-hander, posted a 5.52 ERA but a strong 4.4:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 24 appearances last year with Colorado after spending his first five big-league seasons in Cincinnati. Southpaw Flores...

Filed:November 3rd, 2009 Cubs reliever John Grabow (Cubbie Nation/file) Bruce Levine of ESPN 1000 is reporting that the Cubs and reliever John Grabow are in the mist of heavy talks for a multi-year deal. Levine reports that the offer is reportedly to be a $6.5 to $7.5 million pact, with a third year being a possibility. Some people never learn. Continuing The Jim Tracy = Moron Dialogue From Last Night

Joe Sheehan at BPro: William Burke raised the point in the roundtable that Street had a large reverse-OPS split in 2009. Let's examine that. Bil was right, factually: Street was very effective against left-handed batters in 2009, allowing a .167/.227/.265 line to them in 111 plate appearances. Right-handers hit .217/.244/.375 in 129 PAs. But while the OPS gap is large, it is entirely due to the difference...

Old Man Wagner Applesauce - Wagner may retire, Ike makes another list, 2011 Mets, Phillies advance

We took one step closer to the nightmare scenario: Phillies-Yankees World Series. I put my vote in to root for the Yankees, for what that's worth. I will hate myself either way. Meet the Mets Suddenly, the Billy Wagner trade is looking really good as the left handed setup man/kinda wannabe closer says that he's leaning towards retirement . Jim Tracy Is A Moron: Phillies 5, Rockies 4

I'm going to ignore the Jimmy Rollins error in the bottom of the eighth that eventually allowed the Rockies to go ahead 4-2, depriving Cliff Lee of the win and very nearly hanging the loss on the Philadelphia starter. What I want to know is this: once Huston Street walked Chase Utley with two out, why on earth did Jim Tracy let him stay in the game? That's the winning run at the plate in the person...
