If we assume the Mets will carry 12 pitchers that leaves us with 13 spots for position players. Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran are likely to begin the season on the disabled list, so our starting lineup looks...

Yesterday the Mets made their first round of cuts ( this post ), originally I focused on the list of players sent to the minor league camp and aside from Josh Thole leaving so soon, no one truly surprising was cut. However; looking at it in a different perspective, there were a few surprises as to who stayed in camp. I'm not talking about the players with an actual shot at making the team, more the...

Of all of the positions on the All Decade Team, this one should be the clearest no-brainer. One person started 53% of the games in LF during the decade and had the best offensive numbers. The Reds did have some decent other hitters in LF, but none of them had the playing time to match up in my opinion. Ballot is after the jump. Other ballots: Starting Rotation | Bullpen | Catcher | First base | Second...

Gold Medal: Yankees vs. Diamondbacks, Game 7 – 2001 Not only was it the best MLB game of the decade, you can make a case that it’s one of the best baseball games EVER. Game 7 of the 2001 World Series pitted Curt Schilling and Roger Clemens -- two future Hall of Famers -- against each other. With the Yankees carrying a 2-1 lead thanks to an Alfonso Soriano homer, Mariano Rivera was just...

If Izturis goes on the disabled list, and that appears likely, the Orioles will choose between Triple-A infielders Jolbert Cabrera (.247, three homers, 25 RBIs), Carlos Rojas (.160, six RBIs) and Melvin Dorta (.300, one homer, four RBIs) to serve as a reserve infielder. Justin Turner, acquired from the Cincinnati Reds this offseason in the Ramon Hernandez trade, was a lead candidate, but he is dealing...
