More photos » by Kathy Willens - AP Mariano liked his 'penmates. Browse more photos » Confession: I didn't find this season's bullpen nearly as exciting as the '08 version. First, CC, AJ, Andy and Joba contributed more than 170IP more than the 2008 top 4 starters of Moose, Pettitte, Rasner and Wang. Then, Phil Hughes locked down the 8th inning- 51IP, 0.86 WHIP, .228 SLG against, 11.4K/9....

The New York Yankees did make their first couple of moves this offseason. They were nothing to get too excited about but they removed Josh Towers and Freddy Guzman from the 40 man rosters and allowed them to become free agents. This news came from Chad Jennings of the Journal News who was out in Chicago for the GM meetings. The Yankees are going to try and sign their own guys but are in no rush, i...

Freddy Guzman and Josh Towers were outrighted by the Yankees and elected free agency, according to Chad Jennings of The Journal News. Towers would've been arbitration-eligible. Guzman, 29 in January, hit .223/.272/.294 in 381 plate appearances for four Triple A teams this year. Towers, 33 in February, posted a 3.05 ERA in 103.3 Triple A innings for two clubs.

In a basic roster maintenance move, the Yankees have outrighted both Freddy Guzman and Josh Towers, according to Chad Jennings of The Journal News. Unsurprisingly, both players have elected free agency rather than accepting a minor league assignment. It’s unlikely that either receives a major league deal in free agency. Guess who's elbow that is... View full size photo uploaded September 18, 2009 The Scranton Yankees were swept by the Durham Bulls in the IL finals, dropping the last game, 3-2 . Hope you all had a good long weekend, I got away for a couple of days, went up to Edmonton to see my parents, which was good. Getting into the van my mom sat in the front sit and my dad was climbing into the back and used the door post to get in, I was waiting for him to get in to close my mom's door but she closed it before...
