In a report in today’s Chicago Tribune, Paul Sullivan says that while both Rich Harden and Reed Johnson would like to remain with the Cubs, their return appears to be unlikely. Sullivan says that Harden’s injury history makes signing a long term deal with the Cubs unlikely, and considering the Cubs want to move Kosuke Fukudome [...]

I'll go through a few more lower level free agents this week and pick it up to some possible bigger names next week. As we know, there's talk that if the Cubs can move Milton Bradley, they'd put Kosuke Fukudome back to right field and try and improve the outfield defense with a more true center fielder. And that's where Mike Cameron comes in... Year Age Tm G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP...

But there's a fine line between enjoying something new, and going overboard in praising it. New Cubs owner Tom Ricketts lost sight of that line . “I’ll...

...he could make an interesting replacement for Reed Johnson as a center field platoon for Kosuke Fukudome if Fukudome stays in center. His career splits don't show a huge advantage versus lefties quite like Reed Johnson. Davis has a career .735 OPS against lefties vs .717 against righties, while Johnson has an .841 OPS versus lefties and just .707 versus righties. On the other hand, Davis is a game...

Interesting news out of Seattle. Catcher Kenji Johjima has decided to return to Japan and cancel the final two years left on his contract: Kenji had an option to return to Japan and used it - leaving all $16 million on the table by walking away. GM Jack Zduriencik tactfully said the decision was all Johjima's. "We are very appreciative of everything Kenji has done for this organization over the...

Manager Lou Piniella did not receive the highest grade among the Cubs' coaches. Who did? Yeah, Lou, this year stunk! Lou Piniella, manager, C- -- The Cubs finished with a winning record for the third straight time for the first time in my lifetime. It is the saving grace to what was otherwise disappointing season with Piniella at the helm. He allowed Mike Fontenot and Kosuke Fukudome
