by Michael Appleton - AP View full size photo » Can we finally give some credit to Brian Cashman? After an eight year drought, he finally put the Yankees back on top of the baseball world. After acquiring underachiever after underachiever, Cash built a team based on healthy and dependable stars. In years past, we'd seen the likes of Jaret Wright , Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson , Gary Sheffield ,...

Initially I really liked this deal for the Pirates , who during this season earned the benefit of the doubt in my mind. After learning that Iwamura was only under contract through 2010 however, I was less excited. As often gets said with deals like this, "well, the Pirates will probably trade him later," however, as Royals fans, we know that sometimes that doesn't happen. Looks like Charlie...

I woke up worn out after that long, exciting game. I'm glad I wasn't there, though - it was too nerve-wracking watching the game in my Snuggie. Imagine what it was like to be in the cold and the rain for five hours and ten minutes! And that was after a very nerve-wracking Texas-Oklahoma game. My nerves are shot, even though both my teams won. Sheesh. All this might have been too much for Squawker Jon....

Royals 4, Yankees 3: Too bad Kyle Farnsworth can't close every game against the Yankees. Joba Chamberlain turned in a middling effort. The Yankees, who have clinched everything from the division to home-field advantage, have nothing to play for except their health. They have an off-day Thursday before traveling to St. Petersburg to play the Rays. Then come the playoffs. Nationals 7, Mets 4: Imagine...

Everyone loves walk-offs, and the Yanks sure have spoiled us this year. Moshe at TYU took the time to recap all 15 of those suckers, from Melky’s 14th inning jack against Oakland to Luis Castillo’s dropped popup to last night’s Kyle Farnsworth special. Good times, good times. Check it out. Post from: River Ave. Blues A [...] Post from: River Ave. Blues A New York Yankees blog Recapping...

When is the YES Network going to stop naming the Player of the Game before the game is actually over? Especially given the fact that the Yankees now have 15 walkoff wins this season? Last night, Kansas City starter Anthony Lerew won the honors. But really, Kyle Farnsworth should have gotten the award. I missed most of the game due to real-life obligations, (and I'm bummed I missed that pregame ceremony)...

As Juan Miranda’s line drive literally off of Kyle Farnsworth escaped the Royals’ fielders and Eric Hinske scampered to the plate, the Yankees came together last night to celebrate their 15th walk-off win of the season. Juan Miranda became the latest victim of the Walk-Off Pie, and with their 102nd win, the Yanks opened a [...] Post from: River Ave. Blues A New York Yankees blog The A.J....

-I actually felt bad for Kyle Farnsworth last night, that was about as ‘busted’ a rally as you’ll ever see. Cervelli’s ball takes a crazy hop off the mound, Hinske’s attempted stolen base throw to 2nd sails into CF and then Miranda’s ball goes off Kyle’s leg for the win. Even the Hinske hit would [...]

Put win #102 in the books. Juan Miranda delivered the Yankees 15th walk-off of the year. The Yankees were down 3-2 in the 9th inning, and Crazy Kyle Farnsworth entered the game. You could have predicted that thiswould happen, but it never gets old. It’s a little payback for all those games he blew when he [...]

Yankees 4 Kansas City 3 : There’s nothing more for the Yankees to wrap up in the regular season, but this win was a nice gift to the fans. Sure another win is nice, but the way it happened, a comeback off of old “friend” Kyle Farnsworth was a nice release for the locals. After watching Farnsworth implode in big spots as a Yankee it was nice to see him do it against the Yankees. Juan...

September call-up Juan Miranda grounded a ball off Kyle Farnsworth’s leg to drive in the game-winning run with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning. The 4-3 win over the Royals (64-94) was No. 102 for the Yankees (102-56). Quick ‘Cap: The Yanks couldn’t solve Royals’ starter Anthony Lerew until Mark Teixeira blasted his 39th bomb of the season in the sixth inning. That...
