DETROIT – The AL Central showdown in Motown concluded one thing: Detroit's got work to do. The Tigers had a chance to clinch their first division title since 1987 on Thursday, but the pesky Minnesota Twins refused to concede. Scott Baker didn't give up an earned run and got more than enough run support in Minnesota's 8-3 win at Detroit, giving baseball a race to watch during the final weekend

After trailing the Twins 10-0 in the fourth inning, the Royals made the game very interesting late, but alas, they could not get Lenny DiNardo a no decision. The Royals ended up recording 14 hits tonight, which says a lot about the Twins, who continue to put Bobby Keppel out there for some reason. No Royal had three hits, which is sorta weird. I can't believe the 2009 season is almost over. It seems like yesterday that we were in Spring Training, reading about how great Mike Jacobs was at flipping the ball to the pitcher on bunts & grounders. Should be a fun series, especially if the Twins win tonight. Although they're sending someone named Jeff Manship to the mound, which gives clue as to why they're in the position that they're in....
