Guillen and the (not so) almighty RBI

The following is an analysis of why Guillen's 97 RBIs in 2008 were overrated. I myself used to side with the RBI crowd, but have come around to a different vision of thinking, as have most on this site. But for the few holdouts, I present you this. This is slightly modified from a comment I made in another thread. This equation is a rough estimate of the RBI potential of a player: RBIs = Runners On...

Some Saturday night links: MLB.com's Jordan Bastian (via Twitter) says that Roy Halladay's reported unwillingness to stay in Toronto is less than shocking and speculates that his time with the Blue Jays is nearing its end. Royals Prefer Trades

Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star dishes on the Royals... Dayton Moore...step away from the free agent market. The Royals are moving toward trades, with an eye on the long-term. Owner David Glass says the plan is to "turn over some of the club." Moore already made a nice move in flipping Mark Teahen for Josh Fields and Chris Getz. Dutton again mentions the talks between the Dodgers and Royals...

Trade Market: Designated Hitters

There are plenty of DH candidates on the free agent market, but trades are possible too. Here's our look at the DH landscape... Milton Bradley, Cubs. The Cubs seem certain to unload Bradley, perhaps on the Rangers, Mets, or Rays (obviously the Mets would have to use Bradley in the outfield). Surely by now you've memorized the fact that he's owed $21MM over the next two seasons. Luke Scott, Orioles....
