I've been looking at the list of free agents, and I'm not seeing anyone that I'm in any rush to buy. Matt Holliday is going to cost a fortune as a hitter, as is pitcher John Lackey . Both are very good, but overpriced in the current market. So, who's left? Jason Bay ? Chone Figgins ? For pitching, Randy Wolf or Rich Harden ? Maybe Mark DeRosa as a utility player? I'm just not seeing any quick fixes...

Matt Holliday is clearly the cream of the free agent crop, but there are a lot of other candidates for the Mets ' supposed left field vacancy. T.R. Sullivan, in a post to his blog for MLB.com, says that it is unlikely that outfielder Marlon Byrd will return to the Rangers next season. According to Sullivan, Rangers GM Jon Daniels spoke with the agent for Byrd, and Daniels told Sullivan that the Rangers are not interested in bringing Byrd back based on what [...]

I completed a post on Marlon Byrd, here . While not being the most appealing candidate, if Bay and Holliday go else where he maybe the best of whats left. Byrd has been in talks with the Rangers since the end of the season but it does not appear that they will be able to negotiate a contract... "We've had a decent amount of conversation," Daniels said. "I expect them to test the market....

According to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan, the possibility of free-agent outfielder Marlon Byrd returning to the Rangers is "growing dim." Rangers general manager Jon Daniels and Byrd's agent, Sam Levinson, spoke during the GM meetings in Chicago. But negotiations still haven't moved in a positive direction. "We've had a decent amount of conversation," Daniels told MLB.com. "I expect...

Move over Marlon Byrd and Mike Cameron , the Cubs will make Curtis Granderson their number one target of the off-season according to Bruce Levine ... if he is indeed available. Some recently questioned if Curtis Granderson is actually on the block. After all he has a cost-effective contract for 2010 and should be an important part of the Tigers' organization moving forward ... but the Tigers are having...

When a devout Packers fan and unabashed Cowboys hater such as myself is fearful of Sunday afternoon's nationally televised clash turning into a double-digit embarrassment for Green Bay, you know that it's going to be a tense weekend: ● Texas inquired into the availability of Rays outfielder B.J. Upton as part of their standard off-season due diligence, but were evidently rebuffed, as there are...

So I'm sure all or at least most of you have heard the rumors that the Rangers are interested in signing Vladimir Guerrero . I'm surprised nobody has said anything on here about it yet so I thought I'd make a post about it. Anyways, if Vlad did sign with Texas, how would you feel about it? Personally, I would be kind of pissed off. Not necessarily at Vlad but just the fact that he would be playing...

Time to take a break from the latest on the Milton Bradley saga, if the Cubs have enough to trade for Curtis Granderson , if Marlon Byrd is worth a three-year, $24 million contract and the rumor mill. Next week figures to be full of roster movement (reserve lists must be filed by November 20) and free agency actually begins next Friday. The Cubs system made improvement in the lower levels last season...

If Matt Holliday and Jason Bay elude the Mets and Mike Cameron wants to remain in center field then the next free agent outfielder would be Marlon Byrd. First let me start by saying, I'm not sure Bryd would even be an up-grade over Pagan. I'm not that familiar with Byrd and have no idea what Pagan will really end up being. But the Mets view Pagan as a 4th outfielder and Byrd has played at least 100...

Let's try to filter through all the rumor reports from the GM meetings... Milton Bradley We know Hendry has talked to the Rays, Rangers, Blue Jays, Mets and Angels and really only the Rays and Rangers seem to be showing any real interest and both want the Cubs to pay a hefty portion of Bradley's remaining contract. The two most discussed names coming back were Pat Burrell or Kevin Millwood. For those...

Word in the rumor mill (thanks MLB TradeRumors, Paul Sullivan, Jon Heyman, etc.!) is that the Tigers may be willing to listen to offers for Curtis Granderson. Unless God hates us all, the Cubs are sure to at least kick the tires. How often can you kill two birds with one stone (leadoff hitter and lefty pop) in these times of economic hardship? Oh, we would bring up the economics of it all, wouldn't...
