After the Cubs disappointed in 2004, the offseason motto was addition by subtraction as the Cubs let Moises Alou and Matt Clement leave and desperately tried to move clubhouse cancer Sammy Sosa. As we recall, the Cubs just got worse in 2005 and now baseball's worst organizational strategy is about to be revisited. ...Instead, the Cubs' biggest splash leading up to the 2009 season was signing switch-hitting...

By Dejan Kovacevic | 12:40 a.m. Friday Hey, who turned on the lights? Hope everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving, as well as all the other time that lapsed so quickly since the final out in Cincinnati. From a week in Mexico to a drive to Niagara Falls to simply teaching the kids some street hockey in the driveway (yes, the back is all the way back), it has been an outstanding break. But, as with all...

You've probably heard your local announcer say it at one time or another after a hitter has fouled off pitch after pitch on a 3-2 count: As the at-bat is extended the pitcher has to show more of his arsenal, and the advantage shifts to the hitter. In this week's article, the last in a series which has analyzed baseball by the count, I check in to see if this is true, or if it's simply one of baseball's...

However, they had to decide whether to put him in the bullpen or send him down to Scranton. The Yanks went with the former option and its pretty tough to argue with the results that he's produced for them. However, some still maintain...

A list of Major League Baseball player names has surfaced in the last 24 hours claiming to the THE list of all 103 names who failed the at-the-time anonymous drug tests taken during the 2003 season. I don't know if the list is accurate although there are many names on there we already know were cheaters, some self admitted, some already leaked, and some named in the Mitchell Report. Many of the other...

MLB.com's Jordan Bastian writes via Twitter, that Matt Clement has told the Blue Jays he is retiring. Clement was good for the Cubs from 2002-2004, and an All-Star with the Red Sox in 2005, but his career was derailed by injuries from 2006 on. He finishes his career with an 87-86 record and a 4.47 ERA. Best of luck in life after baseball, Matt.
