Marquis Grissom won't be on Nats' 2010 coaching staff

Grissom will not return as Nats coach - nationals.com 2009 Washington Nationals Outfield and first base coach Marquis Grissom will not be a part of Jim Riggleman 's coaching staff next season. Details are unknown and Grissom was apparently offered a job in the organization. Outside of Nyjer Morgan's outfield play, the defense back there was pretty awful, though that isn't on Grissom. Maybe they didn't...

NL Gold Glove winners announced: Pardon me while I hold my sides

The annual traveshamockery that are the Gold Glove awards has crawled out from under a rock for the season just finished. While there's nothing quite as pitiful as last year's award to Nate McLouth - or the American League giving Derek Jeter another Gold Glove - these do tend to fly in te face of just about every established advanced fielding metric. The following table lists who "should"...

Best & Worst In Hidden Value, 2009

Baseball players can make contributions in a number of different ways, the most obvious and talked-about of which is how they do at the plate. Defense, position, and baserunning tend to be brushed off as secondary concerns. What follows are the top and bottom 15 in the sum of these latter three values, as determined by UZR, Fangraphs' position adjustment, and Baseball Prospectus' EQBRR. Note that catchers...

Tuesday Nats Stats: How'd we do?

More photos » by Morry Gash - AP Not even Nyjer Morgan can outrun Pythagoras! Browse more photos » Well, it's the end of a long, bad season. Just how badly did we do? Winter roster moves and the 2010 season: Your thoughts?

It's a universally held notion that the Nats need to fix (replace?) the starting rotation before the 2010 season. The bullpen has some good pieces in MacDougal, Tyler Clippard and Sean Burnett so GM Mike Rizzo probably only needs to fill out the depth of the bullpen. We don't need another overhaul like we had twice this year. CF was a huge problem until the Nyjer Morgan trade. Likewise, 2B and/or SS...
