Manny Ramirez getting drenched in champagne last night. AP Photo/Gus Ruelas Do you know what dozens of bottles of champagne and cans of beer do to a clubhouse? Well I got a nice whiff of it this morning and picture it: you’re back in a frathouse in the middle of spring semester just as the scents of spilt beer and worn socks, shoes and boxers comingle into a moldy suffocating mess. But that’s...

After fighting tooth and nail for 161 games for a playoff berth and then for playoff eligibility, the Rockies will play their first and only meaningless game of the 2009 regular season today against the Dodgers. Both teams are locked into their seeds and playoff opponents, meaning that we are likely to see two get-away day line-ups as both teams just look to avoid injuries going into the playoffs....

This is a game that the Rockies should win. In fact, if they lose with their number two starter against St. Louis' number 4/5 guy struggling through an injury-plagued season, then I'll actually start to be worried about Atlanta. Yes, until the end of this game (and only should it be a poor result) I will remain unconcerned about the Rockies' playoff prospects. Kyle Lohse #26 / Pitcher / St. Louis Cardinals...

The playoff situation: Colorado is 2.5 games up on San Francisco, 4 up on Florida, and 4.5 on Atlanta. The Rockies will likely be in with a 8-6 record down the stretch--and this should be one of those wins, putting it simply. The Rockies throw out their DRAGONSLAYER 2.0, Jason Hammel, against the talented Max Scherzer. Jason Hammel #46 / Pitcher / Colorado Rockies Height: 6-6 Weight: 220 Bats: R Throws:...

The Dodgers managed to let an early 2-0 lead get away, that mounted on an Andre Ethier RBI single in the first and Casey Blake's solo blast in the fourth. The Rocks tied it on Brad Hawpe's two-run jack in the bottom of the fourth, and briefly pulled ahead on single runs in the seventh (Clint Barmes solo shot) and eighth (Troy Tulowitzky RBI double) to make it 4-2. It didn't last long; the Dodgers made...
